Hot hatch recommendations - £20k

@gobbo - no it wasn't, but was from JCT600 rather than private.

ETA- will post some pictures and a bit more about it when I get home tonight.

Agreed, hot hatches aren't really genuinely sporty, especially as most are FWD. The only one I can think of that actually takes it to the next level are the Megane sporty ones that are even more sporty than the sport models.

I would make a shameless plug for the 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport here (wider track, brembo brakes, stiffer suspension, limited slip diff compared to normal GTi) but then for the OP it's only available in 3 door....

When has the M3 ever been a hatch? So it doesn't fit the proper ethos of a hot hatch at all, it falls at the first hurdle...

And what is a hot hatch? I thought Fox addressed this a few posts ago.
So a 235i is out of the picture ? Probably a better car than the 1 series

And worth £5 after a couple of years. Youd have to be crazy to buy a NEW Peugeot :D

Who has £20k to buy 'a hot hatch car' but doesn't know what car and needs a random Internet to tell him.

I think opening his eyes to what else £20k gets is just as useful. Anyway 7-10 years commitment to one car also is a bit of curve ball. Who knows what happens in the future. Maybe he has a kid and ends up with triplets

But then you have a 308 which has the most dull exterior design of any of the recent hatchbacks (bar a golf).
Yeah it is very restrained. I still reckon in the context of this thread it's a decent option though*

*(I have not driven one yet.)

That would be me, I thought an internet discussion forum was a good place to discuss things, maybe I’m wrong?

In future I’ll remember to never give any requirements and just an open “what Car should I buy” question

I think you're right in discussing it on the forums.. that's what it's here for.

Ah yes, missed that.

ST it is then surely. Having driven one, they're rather nice.
