We are soon going to need:

1) The pre-warmup release Vega Thread
2) The warmup release VEGA Thread
3) The last few hours pre-release 'fluffing' Vega thread
4) The Vega Release Thread
5) The Paper Launch Vega Emotional Safe space hugs and kisses thread
6) The 'I told you so' Vega thread.
7) Vega Owners Thread (probably at least 15 days after the 'launch'.

I realize I've probably missed a few official threads out here, like the 'Vega Popcorn' thread... but I tried to keep it concise.....
I think we'll also need a sticky on how to make a claim on your home insurance for fire damage.

And the FE cooler is super pathetic. It only has 1 small blower-fan and a tiny heatsink. It doesn't actually appear to be a hot card, so I'd be confident the Sapphire triple-fan design will handle it no problem.

If you don't want that super pathetic FE blower cooler, you'll have to get the AIO cooled, or the cut-down XL, as thats the only one coming custom.

Gamers Nexus' testing showed the cooler was better than the NVIDIA Titan Xp one and on par with MSI armour cooler.

FE's issue is the horrific power requirements and overvoltage.

They also managed to keep the card at 1600mhz and undervolt it on the stock cooler.

Better performance than stock, cooler, and less noise.

Yep, 300W.

They've got the clocks listed as base 1500MHz, boost 1600MHz and 1000MHz memory.

Yeah,it makes me wonder if that means they are using different HBM2?? People suspect they are using Samsung 8GB modules for the Vega FE,so I do wonder if these are Hynix 4GB ones.

Edit!!

I am going by the memory speed not the other metrics BTW!

Says who? They went that route with fury x, nothing to say they're stick to that for this release from what I've seen.

I don't think that's the case. There is an XL which is the cut down version, an XT which is said to be the full chip on air and an XTX which may be the full chip on an AIO. If the XT is a full chip on air then there should be partner custom cooled versions. Nothing has been confirmed as to what cooler will be on what code name yet or are you talking about at launch.

That was the recent rumour, full chip on both air and water reference designs and the cut down chip on AIB custom designs.

Edit - Loadsa beat me to it...........and included a picture - gold star for teacher's pet :p

Doesn't necessarily mean that amd have said no custom designs of the card, that really just seems to say availability for reference versions. After how fury x "premium" design turned out i doubt amd would want to chance that fiasco again.

Id love for amd to release the cards and be like we had stuff disabled in drivers but heres release drivers have fun. Doubt it tho.

While it would be great it would also be very disrespectful to Frontier owners if they are purposely nerfing it. Yes you can say it's not for gaming but they've clearly positioned and promoted it as an option for those that want a card for both gaming and work load uses.

I've just read this article on Fudzilla. What caught my eye was this paragraph:

Since the rest of the systems were said to be identical, that means that the savings come from the GPU - and possibly using a Freesync rather than GSync monitor - could it be that RX Vega is going to be targeted at the £250 price point? I.e. a mainstream card and a replacement for the RX 580?

I'd say no, I think it's more likely the saving was in the Freesync v G-sync monitor side and I expect it means the RX will not be cheaper than a 1080, maybe even a little more based on how big a price difference there is in the two monitor's they appear to have used.

I honestly hope for some here the RX Vega is as crap as they want it to be,otherwise some are going to get heart palpitations!! :p

Its only a few weeks until the launch,so best to wait now and see how it pans out. Some of you really are getting way too worked up over this now - its summer go and do something fun!! :p

Huh! This is fun :D
