I keep hearing this song on the radio and think it's going to be the sound of the summer. Reminds me of Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias hits that filtered through to the English speaking world in years gone by.

Are there any other contenders for sound of the summer?

Justin Blieber had a version out of the exact same song.

I presume the one above is the original of the one he copied.

I don't think I've ever heard the Bieber version until now. It's similar but the intro seems pretty weak in comparison to the original Despacito.

It's ****.

Don't understand what they are singing about, no idea why it's being played on UK radio stations.

I hate this kind of attitude. Every other country plays international music in English.

Don't mistake me for a Beiber fan, but I listen to Spanish Radio all the time and believe it or not, other countries make music too.

Despacito has been a heavyweight of a summer track but I only just realised it has competition, from none other than Enrique Iglesias himself. I think 'Subeme La Radio' is an equally good song.

Lol, that Enrique Plexiglass song is exact copy of Despacito. Don't get me wrong - it's not like Despacito is original in any way - you've heard the same chord progression and tune thousands of times before. Proof of concept:

This song has been so over played that when I hear it now I change channel on the TV... it's become very boring and annoying

This probably it, I absolutely loathe this song now due to the fact that it's played about a million ******* times on the radio lol.

Hahah nice editing :p the thing is, if it's not on the radio/TV then someones got it as their ringtone or are humming it as you walk past... :p

Hasn't made it to Classical FM yet. :p Spread like an office virus, though. I concur with the banality of the formula too. The only reason few mind is that pop has successfully filled the important social space of background noise. Throw some hint of Latin America, or just about, and you've got yourself a winner. :)
