This is a disappointing release, it doesn't seem much of a step up from Fury and it consumes a quite ridiculous amount of power. I always follow AMD's releases as you never know when they pull something out of the bag but for a while now (with the GPU's) I find myself getting lower expectations every time. I will still be looking forward to Navi as its Raja's first full release but that excitment has certainly been tempered... :(

Made Shanks look neutral, just like @Gregster ;) :p

And I swear Flopper used to put his comments through 3 different Google Translates for the extra funnies :D
Hahahaha :D

Same here, looking forward to what Raja will pull out the hat with his Navi. But this time my expectations will be lower.

I don't get AMD's reasoning here.

They used the water cooled one to come up with their performance numbers, so the fastest one, its $600, which is £600 in the UK and has about the same performance as a GTX 1080, which is £500, uses half the power and doesn't need an AIO cooler to keep it cool.

Sub $500 GTX 1080

The £500 Vega is slower, i'm thinking probably more like a GTX 1070, they are currently going for about £400.

This is bad, this is AMD not only not able to match nVidia for performance, but the price for performance is very firmly already with nVidia, whats more because AMD have taken so long to get these out they are not going to have a lot of time to sell their more expensive card before nVidia hit them over the head with Volta, in about 6 months.

That's why they are pushing the bundle thing, they know they cannot be competitive on individual GPU's but as an Eco-system they are and it will lock those people into that same Eco-system in the future as well.

I have a 144hz 1440p freesync.

Still not sure whether to get Vega or bite the bullet and go 1080ti.

Was hoping for a slam dunk Vega answer but alas...

My god, screen I bought almost a year ago is almost £100 more expensive o.O

Lots of things have gone up in prices :/

When I bought my G-Sync PG278Q it cost me £637.79 in March 2015.
The same monitor is now £659.99. Would have expected it to drop in price after 2 years.

Never worry folks, Flopper is sitting back relaxing and sipping on a smooth glass of Vega FineWine.

That actually just makes the whole thing worse, as i understand it you can't buy the RX 64 without a bundle, what if you're not looking for discount on a screen, or a CPU, or some games...

I have a really bad feeling about this, i think this is going to be so bad AMD are going to lose money on it.

Yeah I don't really agree with it being available on Bundles only, I understand to stop miners taking the stock thing but still don't think its right.

Don't worry if you're not looking for a discount on a screen, because you won't be getting a discount on a screen in the UK, problem solved :D

:D

The fact that I have freesync and this FineWine Tech is about the only reason I can see myself ending up with a Vega 56 at launch if I like the reviews and can find it at a decent price relative places that will no doubt try and price gauge. Might justify it by saying it will go in my other machine next year :p

Wondering why they just didn't produce a bigger version of Polaris, its very much catered to gaming and is actually good and has a lot of features thats near future ready and console devs can use right now, they won't be making anything for Vega, unless the gpu profiling is AMD secret weapon behind Vega, if it is then it shouldn't be a secret. If gpu profiling is what devs and the driver team allow for more low level access to the gpu in games, then it should be shouted because mantle and vulcan shows what can be unleashed on AMD hardware. So far theres very little linking behind the 2 and we know that Vega actually does have a lot of hardware under the hood thats going to be under used at the start.
