Thanks for that explanation.. but i always wondered if blowers suck air from outside the case through those air vents in the side panels? but anyways i think the 2 separate cards will have more metal compared to a 2x single card.. so the equilibrium temperatures will be lower

anyways .. coming from DSOGaming

I should have purchased Tis in march :(
Note to myself: never wait for amd product launches.. they have an excellent marketing team :D

Iw been there with Fury X was waiting waiting then it landed and disappointed but had hopes so waited for voltage unlock overclocking cause... OVERCLOCKERS DREAM !!!! The dream was 50mhz...
So i lost TWICE
First by time by waiting 980ti price went up around 80-90 pounds after 5 months or so.
Second time when I sold my 290x after 980ti showed up due to waiting for AMD's Overclockers dream card was 3 weeks after warranty. I normally sell everything 2-3 months before warranty. And card died in transport lost another 275 quid cause had 2 refund it ofc.

So ths time after FE got tested i was like OK so it wont match 1080ti at lunch maybe after 1 year it will fair enough at lest AIO one should be cheap... Then i get up at 3.30am to see what 699bucks SIX NINE NINE. And i'm like WTF they must be smoking stronger stuff then me at AMD i can get 1080 hybrid for around 540 TODAY and missed out on destiny 2 promo so had 2 buy it separate for 40 quid...

What I ended up doing since had good offer on Titan X with block and i know vega cant touch this card. Not at price i paid :]

I consider this good upgrade. Next one in 2019 give or take and i know unlocked Titan Will keep value at descent level. Also video editing for Youtube gotten faster :)

Guess I'm waiting for Navi ?? :( deffo waiting for Ryzen 2 tho what a fantastic cpu :)

Will be interesting to see how Infinity Fabric scales in GPUs. They have it working nicely on CPU. Apparently Navi is multiple small die glued together with IF, exposed to the OS/driver as one big GPU

IF should work well with current architectures for compute type stuff but it would need a miracle for it to do anything that much better than current crossfire with monolithic cores as unlike with CPUs the challenges are in the actual way stuff is rendered.

From what I've seen it looks like first gen Navi will be laying the ground work for a modular approach and probably won't itself be a scalable form of that implementation just preparing the architecture approach - stuff like nVidia's MCM approach probably won't appear from either company until after the second revision of 7nm at the very earliest unless they pull something out the hat.

Because mining puts a much higher load on cards than gaming

Says who? mine all run at 55-65% TDP and around 100-110w per card and massively downclocked on the core, in gaming mode they're at 120% power and run about 50-60% higher core clocks. If anything mining is barely stressing them compared to gaming.

I had a dream i had a vega 56 and just as i was opening it i woke up and realised they aint out yet... I want my 1070 killer NOW!! ):
I had a dream where Vega 64 came out and beat the 1080Ti. In my dream I was so happy I purchased many of them. Then there was a stock shortage and people were begging me to sell one to them...

Loadsamoney wanted 2 so he could go crossfire and JediFragger was even kind enough pay £100 extra for his card :p

True story.

Says who?
Anyone who's ever done mining and gaming and has a vague understanding of graphics cards. Heavy compute work is as near to synthetic load as you can get and outstrips pretty much anything any game will do. Power usage and temperature while mining will be higher than gaming, unless you heavily down clock and downvolt, which is basically throwing money away (you want to reduce power use but not at the expense of performance).

Then you woke up to reality..the rest wasn't pretty ..

But with mining you don't get the constant heat up / cool down cycles which physically stresses components..
