Coming back to PC Gaming

Board won't fit in the first case - same issue as first Kolink micro case (thanks again Danny).

I'll try and do a compromise build...

This is a mini-ITX board - but will it fit in the small cases that you prefer - but is pricier.

I would stick to the 1500X as it would be cost effective in the long run - the GTX 1060 could be swapped out for the GTX 1050ti and you would still get decent 1080p gaming with slightly reduced gfx settings.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £743.59
(includes shipping: £11.70)

EDIT: The only issue with the ITX is it only has 2 memory slots - so upgrading memory would involve selling on old kit and replacing with 2 stciks of 8Gb. Or try and source a decent priced stick of 8Gb 3000MHz memory.

Cheers for your guidance Plec - know the small cases may be a problem but want to keep it minimal for the living room so the other half doesnt flip out.
For future expansion may go the mini ATX route as per the desirable basket if I can save a bit more.

Totally understand - it's your build and you should guide us to a spec/size that suits your needs.

Sorry, did you mean micro-ATX or Mini-ITX?

If Micro-ATX - we will need to put our heads together over case choice.

Micro ATX sorry; one of the reasons why I thought about the Carbide Series Air 240

@Danny75, do you know of any M-ATX cases sub £50 elsewhere that will fit the Gigabyte micro?

If OcUK don't supply it we can mention the make model of the case without breaking forum rules as it's not supplied by them.

Fantastic case - was conscious of your budget and the fact i'm slowly crippling your wallet.

Cheers for that, I'm almost thinking if I can keep to budget great but at the same time if I'm going to invest in pc build to replace my ps4 pro I want it done right within reason :)

Plus I notice it's in the offers this week

It's just that case really, they should never have called it micro-ATX even though it fits some (most H110 micros fit). It doesn't have four expansion slots only two. They should have called it ITX/Micro Hybrid or something. Any other micro-ATX case should fit that board.

Well, the 1600 will last you, and again will save you money in the long run - as you won't need to upgrade for years. It has 6 cores/12 threads and will clock to 3.7 across all cores on the supplied stock cooler - which is excellent.

Also, the GTX 1060 will munch its way through 1080p gaming at HIGH/ULTRA and compliment the build.

The only slight failing is the memory - 16GB would be the ideal - BUT - 8Gb will suffice for now and the greater GFX card/CPU will give you greater gaming performance for now. You can easily add another 8Gb in a few months time.

ANd your case choice it classy - so should stand the test of time too - wife permitting of course.

It is a bit of an oddity.

So are we considering this spec?

EDIT: By pure fluke the memory colour compliments the board and it's a windowed case so these things are a consideration now...

Sounds good reasoning

I've read lots about the GTX 1060 and reviews seem excellent for performance.

1080p is very high frame rate at high settings but what's the 4K like? Not a major thing as happy with ultra at 1080

H
haha it is one thing that crossed my mind but yeah think that's what I'm looking at....budgets been pushed but I'd say it's for the best

Will be very dependent on game - but on the whole you would have to lower GFX settings considerably for smooth gameplay.

With newer big titles i suspect it will be start to buckle with frame rates.

I would do a search - you may be pleasantly surprised with the games you play.

You could always play at 1440p - it will manage that a lot easier.
