Can anyone else not burp?

This is one of the least-manly afflictions that a man could have, but I don't have the ability to burp. I think it stems from my etemophobia (phobia of vomiting) but it seriously hampers me sometimes. I have to avoid fizzy drinks a lot of the time which really doesn't help on nights out! I can do some weird little gargle thing but it doesn't seem to offer any sort of relief to the pressure I feel in my stomach sometimes.

Anyone else have this affliction?

Weirdo. I can burp like a trooper but since I had my gallbladder removed they sound weird. Like they don't resonate and come out sounding like I'm puking. It's really delughtful.
 
I burp quite often, seems to link with some skips in the heartbeat as well, like I'll experience a flutter then some seconds later I'll burp, had a brief read up on it and it's something to do with the vagus nerve apparently.
 
Nope, in fact I have the ability to burp at will which means I never have more than 1 or 2 hiccups as I just force a burp out that removes the trapped gas.
 
I can't burp at will, but I only ever do one hiccup now.

As a kid this wasn't the case, but literally never more than one now.

I thought I was unique but apparently not XeNoN89 :)

On the upside if you were a cow & didn't burp you would die.:D So be glad you're a human
Inability to burp is uncommon but does exist. So there are others out there like you....

These people are clearly freaks & should be ducked in the village pond to check they aren't witches

Sounds like it could cause all manner of gastric complications, not being able to relieve trapped gas.

birds...birds can't burp apparently (urban myth maybe?) so you're a bird. at least by that perfectly sensible rational. do you like eating seeds and worms?
 
me too - can't burp at will, never have been able to.

sometimes it happens by accident but like you i certainly can't drink fizzy drinks if walking.
