I currently have a Panasonic DX58700B, which is good but not great. I'm looking for 65" for the upgrade and have to say when I saw a 65" Q7F its picture detail was stunning and looked better than the OLED C7 in terms of detail, though lacked the OLED blacks. TV would be primarily used for PC gaming, would image retention be an issue on the OLED?

I was considering the Sony XE9305 or ZD9, but do they have lean back on its stand? All the Sony TV's I've seen have a backwards tilt which I dont like. I'm seriously thinking Q7F tbh, though the extra £1100 for the B7 is doable I guess too.

Decisions, decisions.

Thoughts?

Cheers.

Were the Q7F and C7 showing the same demo? In my local Curry's they just have the Q7F's playing this colourful cathedral/church demo over and over. In this recent shootout the OLED smashed the Q7F in every category: https://www.avforums.com/article/oled-beats-qled-in-philips-tv-tech-shootout.13787

Image retention should not be an issue anymore on a 2017 or even 2016 OLED unless you leave a very bright static image on the screen for a ridiculous amount of hours and even then the comp cycle should clear it, there's an auto dimming feature though and a pixel shift that prevents IR happening much if at all.

I've said this already on these forums but the ZD9 would be the only LCD TV at the moment I'd take over OLED if my primary viewing was HDR.

Since there's only about 3 PC games with HDR support, and because Windows 10 is almost broken in displaying HDR I wouldn't worry too much about that for PC games.

OLED is the only choice IMO. I use my 65" B6V for PC gaming a lot and haven't had any image retention issues.

Thanks. I'm also looking at the Philips 7601. Different kettle of fish and I haven't seen it with my own eyes, but I have seen ambilight and liked it. Sony TV's are out as they tilt back. The Q7 and C7 were both running identical material. And like I said the Q7 did have a more detailed image which I loved. However in all other areas the OLED was superior. I've read all the reviews, but can only tell you what my eyes saw.

Pretty much decided to go for a 65" C7 or B7. Native 120hz at 1080P would be potentially great for some older games that have 4k ui issues. Just got to take something for the financial pain. ;) Almost twice the price from 55" to 65"!! But I want 65"...

Hopefully buy later this week for delivery next weekend.

Yeah it'll just be for a few old games that dont have decent ui scaling. Managed to get 26 months 0% card. So that will help the finances. :)

You're entitled to your own opinion of course but saying a 902b is better than any of the TV's mentioned is a bit of a broad statement in a thread with OLED's.

The 902 is a fantastic set but I don't know many who would take it over a C7.

The 902b is a superb tv, the best led ive ever seen. I had the 58" version but was damaged beyond repair.

Got my insurance payout and could buy another 902b but I've decided that I'm going to sit on the money and wait for the OLEDs to drop in price and get one.

As much as I love the 902b, if I had the choice which I do now...I'll be going for the OLED now.

Well that depends on how long I can wait for lol.

Went and viewed the C7 again today. Whilst I love the contrast and black levels.... I dunno I'm just not sure it wows me as much as I hoped it would for the £4k asking price. It just seems to lack a tiny bit of clarity/detail. I get the love for them, but it does seem to be a bit of a softer picture than perhaps I'm after. I'm thinking zd9 again at the moment. Its not easy choosing a TV these days!

I've never seen anyone describe the picture on an OLED as soft nor have I seen a mention of lack of detail/clarity. Did you have a look what picture mode and settings were being used?

Unfortunately not and I do bear that in mind. I've certainly read that LG's picture processing isn't as good as some others, but to many that doesn't seem to matter as its OLED. It could have just been the settings, though in every other regard I did like it. And its not to say it lacks detail/clarity, just that I've seen sharper. Which of course isn't to everyone's tastes. Some prefer a more rounded/softer image. Hope that kind of makes a little sense of what I'm trying to say.

I've only heard of OLED's lacking black detail due to black crush but at the end of the day, a good calibration will sort that out and its a really low price to pay for phenomenal black levels.

It was probably in store mode in a brightly lit room surrounded by TVs with higher brightness in nits

In stores I found the OLEDs often didn't stand out surrounded by the bright Samsung's and the like.

When I bought mine and set it up at home, it was the best image I've ever seen in a TV.
