Small Amplifier ?

How small does it need to be?

There's a TEAC AX-501 for £400 on PeterTyson, which puts out 65W into 8 Ohms. It's bigger than the NAD (lying down) by 10cm and deeper too.

Naim Nait 2 would be my choice (as I'm I like my Naim stuff), though they are getting much harder to find these days. I'm pretty sure they can still be serviced by Naim and despite the low output on paper, they would be more than capable of powering your 603s.

There's a variety around, though as per normal, depends upon £.
Cyrus use shoebox style cases. No idea if that's small enough.
Musical Fidelity did some rather cute cylinder shaped amps. Never heard them.
The other option is a decent digital unit, which will also have the benefit of probably running cooler, which may be a benefit if you're going to put it in an enclosed space. For a cheapy system, might be worth looking at some of the tripath based units. I'd avoid most of the chinese stuff, but there's some groups in the UK who sell them at sensible prices.

Just needs to have a small foot print.. (not a typical massive amp)

My thoughts, from cheap to more expensive.. Quality goes up at the same time as the price.

ebay - Search for T-Amp (these are good, especially considering the low cost!)
Pro-ject amp-box
NC400 based stereo amp

If you don't mind vintage take a look at Nytech or as mentioned above Cyrus. Both make (made) fantastic amps that can be picked up second hand for a very good price!

i dont mind vintage as long as they are small in size

You'll find vintage amps are big. Class D/T amps are smaller because they function differently. Low heat/efficient, compared to class AB which need plenty of cooling.

Can't understand reasoning- you have large floorstanders but concerned about one amplifiers size. Does not make sense.

I'm using two amps to bi-amp, then a ATI 2003 - which isn't exactly small either.

Here's the Cyrus II dimensions:
Dimensions - (H x W x D) 85mm x 215mm x 345mm

The Nytech CA252 is similar in size.

the floor standers dont come out very far , they are tall , but not deep compared to an amp which comes forward a long way

and i assumed it would be easier to find a small amp.. if i cant ill have to live with a larger one and it not look as nice
