Odd events kicking off. Pubs & theatre bars recommended by police to be closed for time being. Wonder if folks will rediscover what books are when they're indoors without a pub :p
Norfolk Police said it had increased resources, but dismissed reports that someone had been stabbed.

There were also reports of an alleged rape at a bus stop in Cromer on Friday night.

Police were investigating the incident, which was not said to be linked to the disorder.

The pictures of the place make it look like butter wouldn't melt there.

I heard something on the news mentioning, travellers. Not sure if they're to blame or not. Also one eye witness reported a man urinating in the street, a street full of people. What the hell is going on down there?

Yep, had read comments on twitter about travellers too.
Guessing the locals weren't amused, the travellers took against it & they both clashed somewhat.

Time'll tell.

what exactly is "low level disorder" and have these people ever been to the holy lands on st patricks day?

Generally just acting like morons. There wasn't large levels of violence - noise, minor damage, crap like that. Our lovely travelling brethren had their mitts in there as always...

I do know a few travellers (even though they don't travel lol) & some are okay, others are tetchy to say the least.
Few months ago, one of them (not one I knew) died during sleep, heart problems if I recall, so there was a funeral few days later.
From what I'd heard from locals in this tiny city, the street that the pub was in where the wake was being held ended up being shut down to the public, because the travellers were drunk & racing up & down the street on their horses.
Was kind of surprised, not only because the police left them to it, shutting down the area to the public & leaving them to their racing about, but this was only a few dozen feet from the main police hq for this area.

Worse, this was also one of the busier (& larger) streets in the area & this meant anyone wanting to get home from work or past the area whilst stuck on a bus were screwed.

Can understand wanting to blow off steam, but there should be limits.

I've mentioned it on here before but it's like the police are afraid of them.

Where I live we get a lot of dumped and abused horses - it's obvious to everywhere where they come from but no action is ever taken. We also see a rather large increase in crime during one of the fairs that's run by travelers but the council insist there's no correlation! On top of that the best one is metal thefts. You'll see a couple of dodgy looking people about on foot or in cars. Then scrap vans will start appearing. Then metal that isn't scrap will disappear. It keeps turning up in scrapyards owned by traveler families or even in their camps but never as a result of them. Nuh uh. Prime example -

Also a report of a man being raped and robbed of his phone in Great Yarmouth!
Norfolk ain't what it used to be.

Well if the police wont do anything the public will.

That's what happens in a PC society, breakdown. I mean really shutting businesses over this screams like dystopia, Mein greatest leader May will be pleased.

They are very sociable individuals, they don't break the law and cause havoc where ever they go, they aren't thieves with zero ability to conform to the standards of the general public and they are very lovely people. The girls don't dress like wannabe Katie Price slags, either.

I'm not sure why but this made me smile:

North Norfolk MP Norman Lamb described "utterly intolerable" scenes, which included an incident at an Indian restaurant in which staff were allegedly physically threatened when they informed a group of around 30 that they would need to buy a meal with their drinks.

...and reminded me of this scene for some reason :D

EDIT: Unfortunately there is swearing at trhe end of the scene so I'm removing the link. Search for "Rowan Atkinson Live - Drunk English in Indian Restaurant" instead.

I recall many moons ago when I was in Hull, any time Hull fair was in the area everyone would go around saying "Tie everything down!" & plenty of times I'd hear of one thing or another going missing, usually kids bikes.
Never thought of it at the time, but I don't recall seeing many cops in the area.

It is about time the government does something about unauthorised travelers. A couple of weeks ago 3 vans, each towing a caravan all went through a red light that I had stopped at on a roundabout causing havoc to the traffic who had priority. Not a care was given by the travellers.

I suggest destruction of their assets (caravans) should be sufficient discouragement.
