Confrontation Yes/No?

1.

I'm far too busy to even thinking about dealing with these kinds of people..........and by 'these kinds of people' I mean idiots before anyone gets on their high horse

I'm one of those people that will stand up for my self when needed and will stand up for myself if my family is in danger, however I do have a habbit of avoiding verbal confrontation and that I find annoying. I'll go over the event in my head " I should've said this or that " etc.

Here's an example, today I was walking through the shops in an ok mood, I walked out of a charity shop and this bloke walks past me, looks at me, didn't bump into me or was in each others way and as he walked through the doors behind me said " Watch where your going ". There was nobody else behind me so clearly it was aimed at me.

In my head I just said to myself Just leave it, Don't rise to it. But what would you have done in this situation?

1) Felt it was not worth the agro
2) Faced him and said a few words back?
3) Hit him

I'd probably have said stfu (no I don't think i'm hard nor have I EVER looked for trouble).

But I lack a filter when it comes to ********, I despise people who are dicks to others for no reason.

However, you did the right thing because frankly, it's totally meaningless. So what? some idiot tries to mouth off. Irrelevant. It's better to avoid stuff like this because you never know if it may erupt into a fight.

Don't sweat it.

Walk away, you never know these days when someone might erupt over you making a comment back.
Yeah, you can live in fear, if you like...

I'd have politely called him on it - The OP may not have seen the problem and that someone else called him on it supports the notion. Give the guy a chance and apologise sincerely if you are indeed in the wrong... otherwise you're just perpetuating the problem by being ignorant about it.
Can always lamp the other guy if he's the wrong'un.

If its a stranger i ll just say sorry and i would just walk away, no need to defend yourself to be honest as it could lead to further arguments which could end up with crimal charges. I ve got arrested many times defending myself so now i usually try to avoid it if i can, regardless of who started the argument / fight, whomever ends with bloody mouth usually gets treated as victim by police officers unless you have a witness or hard evidence, so good luck explaining yourself in police station or in court.

If its somebody i know or see them in same neighbourhood or work enviroment i would stand my ground to prevent future incidents repeating itself.

In my youth I would have said something which would have blown a nothing situation out of proportion, I did it a few times too many and not only got myself into "can't back down" situations but I often dragged a few mates along too.

Really really not worth the hassle, it is better to be sat there thinking you should have said something than regretting having actually done something stupid.

There's only one answer to give in that kind of situation.

The reality is that aggressors like that are rarely the kind of people who would see any reason in hearing you out should you say anything, even if they are wrong. They are only out to make a confrontation and hurl physical or verbal violence.

Boxing stance of course.

In all seriousness, confrontations can quickly escalate and the chances are you'll have more to lose than they do. Better off to leave it.

Most likely be stunned by the rudeness and not respond quickly enough to matter. Then wander away thinking what a word that rhyme with the large lump of metal used to keep a boat still.

this bloke walks past me, looks at me, didn't bump into me or was in each others way and as he walked through the doors behind me said " Watch where your going ". There was nobody else behind me so clearly it was aimed at me.

I'd have simply asked him 'Watch where my what is going?'.
