Jesus someones emotionally defensive over the Iphone X ! lol - yeah I get you seem a fan - but the price is bonkers, it's an OLED phone, made from samsung screen parts, programmed by Apple.

I'm not fussed either way, and I get people debate it but, chill man, people will point out its flaws, its not flawless.

I'm not defensive, the price is mad but justifiable IMO, but when people post sweeping statements that are unfounded because bashing Apple appears to be a hobby for some, am I not allowed to reply?

The iPhone X does look fairly nice to be fair (unlike the 8 which is the same as the last 3). But it's specs are lower than the s8, yet it's nearly twice the price.

Which specs exactly? PPI is irrelevant as beyond a certain threshold you can't tell the difference.

There is basically no chance of this happening. Every generation has gotten progressively more expensive.

It has but they have always done it with a semi-reasonable increase. If they had kept the 8 at the same price as the 7/+ was last year that would have been fine. Sticking nearly £100 on top of each of them is a **** take. I have been on various mac forums for years now and I have never seen so many disappointed apple fans and I have never seen as many people say they are going to either stick with their current phones for another year, switch to android or simply get a 7/+ if they really need an upgrade.

The mood is usually:

excited before event -> bit of whinging but everyone still wants to upgrade afterwards

The current mood is:

excited before event -> massive whinging, a large proportion of people who wanted to upgrade are not doing so or getting the 7 instead. Even all the people who were resigned to getting the "cheaper" 8 are now reconsidering because of the increase in price there as well.

Thank those who voted for brexit - the £ is weak, the UK is about to get globally robed.

Brexit/global events is all about levelling currencies, its the real master plan, get used to having less, or the same for more money.

Yeah but your equally producing sweeping responses, needs to be a middle ground.

£999 or $999...lol

Bear in mind US prices are quoted without sales tax because different states have different rates.

Remove VAT from the UK price and it's 'only' £832.50.

Now that's still £80 more than the US based on the current exchange rate but it's not as lolworthy as the headline price might appear.

I dont know anyone with any phone who actually used the finger print stuff, other than the first 10 minutes of owning the phone.

Everyone has swipe patterns, a pin or nothing at all. Its nothing more than an expensive gimmick. :)

Thats a bit of troll comment.

How can anything that is quicker and more secure be a gimmick. I can unlock my phone without even looking it at with just 1 gesture.

I'm just worried how it's going to pressure Google into upping the prices of the Pixel 2 :(

I doubt it will pressure them at all. They won't price it as high as the iPhone X and as much as people point at Samsung and their ~£950 for the note 8, you are an idiot if you pay that. The S8 is nearly £700 on the samsung site but you can buy it for £500 elsewhere already. iPhones don't get discounted, android phones do.

It's interesting looking at the prices for the full lineup now:

$999 – iPhone X – 64GB
$799 – iPhone 8 Plus – 64GB
$699 – iPhone 8 – 64GB
$669 – iPhone 7 Plus – 64GB
$549 – iPhone 7 – 64GB
$549 – iPhone 6s Plus – 64GB
$449 – iPhone 6s – 64GB
$349 – iPhone SE – 32GB

They've finally managed to sell a phone for over a grand to compete with laptops in terms of not only price, but also computing power when you look at the benchmarks.

iOS is a much smoother OS than Android is, comparing hardware specs is somewhat futile. You're paying for the full experience, not just the hardware.

Not to mention that the people considering giving Apple a grand for a phone probably own other Apple stuff which the S8 just will not play as friendly with. Can you even get Android SMS's through the Messages app on an Apple laptop?
ios is no smoother then android. they are about the same. Guess you never used an android phone for the past 3 years.

lol what benchmark? show me a phone that can crunch a 4k video footage in premier pro faster than a laptop...

come on now

you're comparing 5000 different build versions of Android on 5000 differing hardware devices from 500 different vendors vs. 3 builds on 3 hardware devices from 1 company. It's never going to be as optimised or run as well. Deal with it.

That's the funniest thing I have seen all week ^.
This thread is absolutely hilarous!

How come none of the Android phone threads are like this? But instead just mature well rounded comments about the device in question?

No one uses touch ID/fingerprint?

Yet they all run just as smooth as a iphone with similar specs.

Are you comparing a £10 android phone vs an iphone X? Yea of course the £10 is not as smooth as your iphone X but vs say a note 8? neck and neck i believe and couple of 100 quid cheaper with more specs/features.

Each to their own when it comes to ios vs android but please, smoothness is all the same in all these devices

For a month or two before a new API update comes from a mishandled tweak of the AOSP and demands that the kernel stack needs another 4GB of RAM otherwise it'll segfault.

puh-lease.

It's a dogs breakfast, always will be.
