Looking at your post history and threads you've created, money is clearly tight for you. So I can understand that envy might make you slightly bitter :)

Its not a Ferrari nor anything like it. Its an iPhone and just like all the other iPhones before it but a newer generation, it's also not really any different to other top end phones on the market.

Was just using Ferrari as an extreme example. But Apple is an aspirational brand and this is their special 10th Anniversary iPhone. Companies will charge as much as they think their brand is worth. The user base and is big and strong enough for £1k iPhones to sell like hot cakes.

Dudes getting divorced, ***** tight on the wallet.

Still, with no wife he'll be happier, which is something no iPhone X can give you...

I'm keen to get my hands on one though, I want to tear it down and see how easy it is to get that screen off, see how FaceID is connected to the mainboard. Obviously wouldn't buy one just to do that, but I hope the iFixIt scans aren't too far away

What a ridiculous statement :D

I can only imagine the logic behind that was:
- Think of something I don't like or not particularly fussed about
- Think of a number I would never pay because of the above point
- Making a sweeping statement about those who have a differing opinion to both the points above

I could say those who go out at the weekend and have nothing but a sore head to show for it are sad, because I don't do it nor does it interest me. Would be an unfair and untrue thing to say though

£1k isn't a lot of money to some, and a phone is something you'd use a lot every day. So why not? I will happily spend £1149 on the phone, same as I've happily paid the price for the new Apple phone every year. To me it's not a lot of money and over the course of a year, I more than get my moneys worth. Consider me sad
It's not necessary a completely grim price... if you don't already own a phone that works perfectly fine. I'm not really sure there are many real benefits of having a better spec at this point... other than better battery life.

I could afford one but pass.

In fact, looking back, the iPhone 6s was 'merely' £619 new on day one (64gig).

Will probably upgrade in a couple of years.

As a side point, that Apple Pay monthly upgrade program isn't bad IMO.

Let's not kid ourselves there'll be dole dossers walking around with these as well.

£1k isn't a lot for people with a decent career but for some that's not the point it's the ethics behind it and that they feel they're contributing to the problem. Most of the really well off people I know don't even buy into new tech that often, it's those of us who have a genuine interest in technology who find ourselves upgrading year in year out or those with little sense of working hard for their money.

If people vote with there wallet and don t purcahse this phone, prices will come down and everyone wins.

But some people dont have morals and cant live without owning the latest and greatest.

This phone costs more then many mirrorless cameras that can take FARRRR better images then this by the way.

But can you record your facial expresions and voice as a poo emoji on a mirrorless camera ? :p:D

If there was even the remotest of possibilities that enough people would not buy it for Apple to take notice, then I too would hold off. But let's be real, me not buying a phone makes no odds to Apple, as there will always be someone willing to pay. So by me moaning about the price and refusing to buy, I'm just denying myself the phone I want and any future phones

This makes a better phone call though ;)

I suspect you may convince yourself if you say it often enough. Not me though - about £400 cheaper and it it may be a consideration. I can put with some minor alleged slow down and an apparant lack of fluidity from other brands if I'm saving £400. :)
I don’t need to convince myself, I want the X and can afford it.

Some people spend £6000+ on a watch when you can get cheaper ones that aren’t much worse.

Eh? The idiots that buy mega expensive watches are far more ridiculous. Any £10 quartz watch thrashes the pants off a mechanical Omega / Rolex for accuracy.

well if this phone had features no other phone had then yea maybe but the fact that a year old S7 has the features this phone has plus other devices, i wont lose by not purchasing this phone.

Im no brand loyal to anyone and buy whatever is best for my needs at a good price point.

If i see another brand/product with equal feature sets that appeal to me for cheaper, why should i purchase the more expensive one?

The problem with our society is that many worship particular brands like its religion. Its sad but thats where we are at the moment

Oh yeah….at the moment you can wake it up to check the time (clock). Now you look at it, it unlocks. And the clock is now tiny at the top in the corner.
You have to swipe to go to the home page -- looking at it unlocks but stays on the "lock" screen.

A solid timepiece is art. It's like rubbishing people who spend money on expensive paintings.

At least a solid timepiece doesn't go obsolete...

Those are luxury items. You cant buy a similar build watch for £100. Can you buy a similar specced iphone x? yea you can. note 8 or even the one plus 5 just to name a few.

People dont realise the fact that some worship <insert company/brand> as god lol

This is so stupid, Face ID is better than Touch ID. It’s faster and more secure and is not affected by wet fingers etc.

See you next year when all the android phones switch over to it as well!
The android phones already had that a year or so ago...

Exactly - we will have two X's in the household. Oh, and I also enjoy luxury watches/cars - people spend their money how they wish :)
