I have to say I am MIGHTY impressed with the MAZE Alpha.

Built solid, lovely glass front and back. The screen feels as nice as iPhone. Fingerprint unlock is faster and as an OS, it feels next gen even though it's merely a different style.

The screen is good on this, I suspect the Elephone S8 will be even better.

Keyboard, despite being larger, I keep hitting the wrong keys, mainly the K instead of L. What's up with that?
General unfamiliarity in how to do things like how to bring up all the apps running, how to even go to notifications.
Despite the larger screen and higher res, it seems a lot of apps are not designed to natively adapt to it, Facebook for example looks worse in a way being on a larger screen.
 
Try downloading the google keyboard mate, it works well. Usually you can change the actions of the keys in the settings to bind them to tasks like apps running.

I already have, I am sure it will become familiar eventually.

How do you change the wallpaper? I got it loaded up but there is no "set" or confirm button?
 
Usually wallpaper is in settings, if not try using Zedge from the playstore you can down load and set them. Or usually pushing one of the buttons and holding it will bring up wallpaper, widgets and even running apps, not used that phone so just guessing.

I suspect it didn't ship yet ... I had a shipment notification, same phone same seller, on the 12th ... tracking eventually updated to show it was actually mailed on the 15th at which point it was mailed and left Hong Kong ... nothing since.

My colleague also had a shipment notification on the 15th and the tracking hasn't updated since ...

Feedback on the GPS and navigating whilst offline would be really useful, thanks for blazing the trail so far, still if you are coming from iPhone land you can afford a few punts!

How do I test the GPS whilst offline?

I think phones have made LEAPS and bounds, these £160 phones is ridiculously good value, I am missing water resistance and NFC basically.

You may need to download a map and set location services!
As you're newish to Android and it probably doesn't matter, any feedback on if the gps locates will do!

I think at current price and your software success I gotta pull the trigger!

The one thing about the Elephone S8 is that it only has 64G and no microSD. i already put in a spare 32G card lying around in this and got a ton os space. Got Airandroid installed so can transfer files between mac and phone with ease. Google took care of Calendar syncing and contact list.

The transition is pretty easy, hours not days. The most tedious part is having to install all the apps again and remember the passwords!!!!
 
Ray, how is the camera on the Maze? I dropped my Oukitel pretty hard recently and it's get much worse for wear, need a replacement in the £150 bracket. I just need something that isn't utterly shocking in the camera department.

You were right. Just had a notification that it's left Hong Kong today at 17:18 which is pretty impressive seeing as it's 12:37 now. They probably just make stuff up.
 
Despite the relatively poor battery size in the Xiaomi Mi A1 I'll almost certainly buy it. I wished it had the 4,000mAh battery that the Note 4 had, but stock Android (even if Xiaomi are pushing the updates rather than Google) is enough to sway it for me.

It was 19:37 in Hong Kong though.

My colleagues tracking was updated this morning at about that time so I suspect it's been sent in the same batch. Not that I've had any further tracking info from mine in the 5 days since it got past this stage ...

Tbh, I think the shipping was better from Gearbest and Honorbuy then from Banggood. I have something else on order from Banggood as well that they claim was shipped on the 9th whereas I've had things shipped and delivered from Gearbest since then.

It's better than the iPhone 6 but that phone is 3 years old. The camera world and will do for snaps. It won't know you away and won't do the portrait stuff in the latest iPhones but it's £160 phone at the end of the day.
