German Election polls

Lot's of people. It started way earlier than 1933, they knew what they were getting by 1933 with regards to his views on Jews. Read Ian Kershaws book 'Hitler', it's an exceptional book.

Not enough. And even fewer wanting to step up. His views on Jews were somewhat common at the time. In some respects according to fringe elements at the time (plenty of evidence from Zionist elements in the US) show he was mild compared to what some would have him do (including other Jews) A pity that at the time of his rise reason did not prevail.

 That is a huge stretch to compare them to the Nazi party. Ever think that maybe, just maybe the 2m migrants entering the German area and causing untold damage/crime/rape not to mention highly common terror attacks has a big part to play?

It seems to me people blaming the AfD for umpteen things are the same type of myopic hair brained type who cannot see the AfD are not the problem. The AfD never were a problem until the above happened.

I love the term far right now applied to everyone right of Lenin/Marx. It must be a weird world view indeed.

To be clear: If you oppose migration it doesn't make you far right. In the same way if you oppose/disagree with a certain 5 letter word does not make you far right.

Burn the heretic!

Indeed. And the bigger the problem the deeper they dig it.
Well I'm not sure Merkel believes in anything in particular, I think she just wants power. So unusually with her immigration policy she may have made a misjudgement.

Well, pardon my skepticism but once was enough and I'm not really in the mood of giving a party like that another chance, do you?
No, but the logic does not work. Germany is not going to attack the countries it makes loads of money from.

It's not really your choice though is it?

It's the Germans and theirs alone, if 13.5% of the "electorate" feel AfD is their only way to scream something into Merkel's ear, then that's just how it is, worked with UKIP after all. Regardless it really doesn't matter what the parties are honestly, it's the events that occur that dramatically boost a particular sentiment that shape a country, "hope" turns into disappointment when you don't deliver.

I don't care that much about German Politics, considering the UK's current predicament, but still like a bit of analysis.

I'm not talking about voting in the German election, I'm talking about the idea of giving a party like that a chance. A discussion.

See, I used to subscribe to the same mindset. That politicians make catastrophic mistakes. However, there is no way you could unintentionally make a mistake like that. Therefore the illogical must invariably be true: This is a deliberate act. Nobody is that stupid.

I think in reality terms, there is a belittling element from some on the political spectrum. As an example some time ago when I went on a so called "whackjob" website (not news per say but independent investigative journalism with no approval and derisive remarks from MS news) that made remarks that the US was providing all manner of support to ISIS (from weaponry, to Intel, food, infrastructure support etc). Then with the old mantras of: Follow the money and who has the most to gain (the US), things fall into place.

When I checked earlier RT was saying the US is supporting ISIS positions and included evidence (the same with Turkey also colluding and providing support to ISIS). The BBC didn't have a peep on its site (don't know if it has now). Plus there is a steadily increasing amount of evidence (by investigative journalists) who are finding how the US weapons transfers to ISIS and others in the ME are working.

I think sometimes people stand to close to the picture at the wrong times

You see, fix the cause of the problem and the problem will go away. Ignore the problem and it gets worse. The AfD are a symptom of the problem.

Hmm you have a point, Merkel is very clever and thinks a lot before talking let alone acting.
