Between now and then

Folks,

I am just looking for people opinions on what's coming next.

With everything the country is going through, austerity, brexit, terrorism, we have a Tory party that to a lot of people seems on a collision course to implode, we have Labour, a party that seems like a government in waiting, but it is nearly five years to wait to the next general election.

Then we have the Lib Dems, The Greens, UKIP and so on.

So, between now, and the next general election what is going to happen, surely something has to change, Labour are never going to wait 5 years to get to the next GE, what will they do? Cause strikes and other mayhem to bring the government down?

I also think something will change in the Tory party to enable them to feel confident of calling another GE, without Teresa May at the head of the Tory party, or they **** things up so much that the population will become so fed up that rioting etc will start, along with the strikes to bring the gov to it's knees, and force an election.

In my opinion i think something will happen to force an election, I think the problem will relate to Brexit, on how we leave etc, I also think in the next 6 months we will see some aggressive things happen in Europe, i don't know what exactly, but directed towards the UK.

I also do not think we have heard the last of Nigel Farage, I'm not saying we will see a surge in UKIP support, but whoever or whatever Farage decides to lead will gain a lot of support depending on what way Brexit takes shape, Farage leading the Tories isn't out the realms of being possible.

These are all just thoughts i have going around my mind, I do think a lot of things that will happen have hardly or never been spoke\thought about much yet.

Thats it really, just some of the possible things our futures may hold, all probably totally wrong, but it is an interesting subject if you take a step back, drop all you're own biased opinions and look at what is going to happen or may possibly happen between now and the next GE in 2022.

Is it all going to be bliss or are we in for dark days?

Well that's the million dollar question isn't it? May has proven she hasn't got a ******* clue what's going on and won't ask for help resulting in her party (and loads of her supporters) having no confidence in her. Personally, I think BoJo could be the man for the job but that's just an optimistic guess, he could drive us in the the ground, who knows.

I bet ol' Dave is having a right laugh right now. He played the entire country like a banjo and walked off squeaky clean.

Personally, I think we're already ******, it's just that the majority of people haven't realised it yet.

Or they have realised it and don't give a ****.

I think Labour is perfectly happy with the position they are in now, they feel revitalised by new support and can rip into the government and look morally superior all without having to deal with the toxic mess that is Brexit. Come next GE they'll be able to wipe up and rule with a strong majority.

One thing I think they are getting ahead of themselves on is this belief that public views have swayed to socialist / left-leaning politics. The political mainstream will always be centre ground and many labour votes last time were down to a lack of choice in that area.

Limbo for several years then either collapse or stagnation for about 10 more depending on what happens with brexit. My fear is that JC will be basically picking the reigns up of a train wreck in waiting and wont be able to do anything to help it, followed by the usual gutter press screeching of how bad labour are. Yada yada yada yada......

Corbyn is 68 now... he'll be just days away from his 73rd birthday if we wait the full 5 years before the next election, that would make him the oldest prime minister ever to assume office for the first time. He's not exactly the sharpest of politicians at the moment but rather his popularity is based around him saying nice things, promising more nice things and avoiding difficult decisions. A large portion of the parliamentary Labour Party hate him because they've already seen how bad he's been first hand when dealing with (or ignoring) shadow ministers. I hope that his age might be a blessing in disguise. Trump has a similar age issue facing him when it comes to re-election.

He sure did.

Nail / head. Corbyn might have his heart in the right place but as the old saying goes, "nice guys finish last". We need someone with an iron clad resolve and the ability to tell the soft love-all folks to do one, for the greater good ofc.

Opening the borders is a good example. Merkel did it and look what happened. How's germany's future looking right now?

I agree, but as things currently stand surely it will be a lot sooner than five years, I think a GE will be called within the next 12 month, forced or not.

I agree, but who, someone we haven't considered before? heres another spanner to throw in, suppose the Tories implode and split, Farage leads one side, Boris on the other and Corbyn with Labour, all doing battle in the next GE :)

e: To add, i heard Farage is meant to start a different party if the current fav wins the UKIP leadership, Anne-Marie Waters.

If he wants to lead a party why didnt he run again for the UKIP leadership? hmmm, something strange about that.

Fast forward a few years past the next GE....

I think the Conservatives are perfectly happy with the position they are in now, they feel revitalised by new support and can rip into the government and look morally superior all without having to deal with the toxic mess that is the current big issue in politics. Come next GE they'll be able to wipe up and rule with a strong majority...

And the cycle continues...

Good post.

Dunno, but the perception of our current crop from the outside must be LOL. Honestly there's no direction. There's no definitive plan. Everyone involved is changing their mind every 5 mins and the rest are just standing around picking their noses trying hard not to get dragged in to it. It's funny how when the times are good the papers have hundreds of political names to report on day in and day out, yet since the vote we can probably count the prominent political figures on two hands.

At a time when we need to be seen as strong and unrelenting, we're that kid in the school yard kicking a stone around with his hands in his pockets whilst looking down at his shoes, waiting for one of the cool kids to throw out a lifeline. It's a disgrace and we don't have a single politician willing and able to step up and crack on. Instead we have "dunno lol" May, "let's all be bffs" Corbyn and Bojo.

Honestly at this point in time anything is better than the shower of **** we have. Left, right, doesn't matter, just someone willing to lay out the law and crack on will have more respect from the political stage than the limp wristed idiots we have now.

Say what you want about Thatcher, at least she picked her guns and stuck to them till the end.
