Madeleine McCann investigation 'cost £10 million to date'

Police complaining about lack of funds and then waste even more money on this...

It's not just the funding how many times has police numbers been trotted out recently following terrorist incidents? if they're that short of numbers that they can't protect people against terrorism then why waste man power on this?

This is an absolute farce.

They lost their child by being incredibly reckless, irresponsible and stupid. They aren't the first and won't be the last.

This has gone on long enough and wasted far too much money and resources.

In times gone by this would never have happened. The police of yesteryear wouldn't be spending £11 million and ten years on a lost cause. So why today? Is it the publicity and the media frenzy? Poor decision making at the highest levels? Political interference?

At what point can the police rightfully say, "Sorry, you done ****ed up, we can't undo your stupidity. You lost your child in a foreign country and there's not much we can do about it."

They murdered her, hid her in a fridge for 4 weeks, hired a car and then got rid of her somewhere - allegedly - be careful what you're claiming as fact

I’m more worried about the number of people who still believe her parents murdered her and somehow got away with it in one of the most heavily scrutinised cases in history. Says a lot about how evidence has gone out of the window and people prefer to debate on their feelings and “gut instinct”. “B b b b but I can see it in Gerry’s face he’s got that serial killer v v v vibe”.

Criminal masterminds.

It’s as easy as 123.

If this was true we would be seeing a lot more attempts like this, both realized and botched

I think it's easier to give them up to foster care if they really wanted to get rid of a child and not worry about the law breathing down their backs, that's the way I see it anyway.

I think what happened here is that the parents were simply negligent. Traffickers in Spain must have been watching holidaying tourists and noted how the McCanns were lackadaisical in keeping an eye on their children. They simply waited for the right moment to make their snatch.

Traffickers took her to another country. Saw the media frenzy so killed her. Burnt the body and dumped the ashed in the sea.
We'll never know all the details. Stop wasting money.

The fridge thing also wouldn't work because they were on holiday in a resort for less than that time, and cleaners would have spotted something straight away. The police would have done a forensics examination of the hotel room as well, as has been reported. They made the missing persons report almost straight away and any potential car hire would have been scrutinized by the police including forensics examination.

Whoever did the kidnapping knew what they were doing. The parents have no clue how they would kill a little girl and get away with it, they just don't have the know-how, the background, nor the motivation to. They had no debt. They enjoyed their holidays and their Christmases together. Both careers were flourishing. They loved their little girls.

I think the most reasonable conclusion is that they were sedating the kids so they could go out drinking and hobnobbing.

Either they accidentally overdosed her or she woke in the night and had a fatal accident due to being drowsy.

The parents then decided to cover their tracks and come up with a grand abduction story to hide their guilt.

One of the better documentaries was on BBC last year but I don't think anybody watched it.
It started with the conspiracy theories and I nearly gave up but then it went to facts
eg Cuddle Cat was washed 70 days after the disappearance because it was getting dirty
Kate answered all 48 questions but the day after she was told she didn't have to answer because she was now an Aguido but the CT'ers only concentrate on the day she was an Aguido.
For the first time, they showed the video of the sniffer dog sniffing death on Cuddle Cat - the dog ran in, saw the toy, sniffed it, ran round the rest of the room and ignored Cuddle Cat for the rest of the session.
The Portugeuse Police claimed you couldn't get into the apartment through the window from the outside - the documentary maker got hold of an old burglar, put him by the window and he was through it 5 seconds later.

You forget which 'Police' you are talking about, figured it;s public knowledge the local police over there are next to useless so probably missed God knows what.

I think I am right in saying a solicitor CANNOT lie in court, they are likely NOT to ask directly if you are guilty or not ..
The main reason is that it's illegal for a solicitor to knowingly let their client lie, I.E if the client admits guilt to them then they cannot call their client to the stand if they have reason to believe they will lie (and pleading innocent is a pretty big reason). Of course the prosecution can call them, but because of this will usually wait for the defense to do it because in a normal case the accused is best served as a witness for the defense not the prosecution.

I have always felt this is the most likely scenario
