Mass Shooting in Las Vegas

Fully automatic weapon, 800 rounds per minute, each bullet travels at ~1,700 miles per hour. Unleash that kind of firepower into a densely packed crowd, and you're onto a winner.

Doesn't sound like he was picking targets much just emptying the magazine into a crowd indiscriminately - even at that distance the videos show the crowd was pretty densely packed so he isn't going to be missing much :(

/stupid but interesting question;

What will become of the hotel? usually after these sorts of shootings (Sandy hook / Orlando nightclub) the buildings involved are bulldozed or shut down, it's a huge hotel, but who on earth is going to want to check in there now.. ?

I'd doubt anything will happen to the hotel, maybe they won't have a big party in the nightclub tonight but it really wouldn't surprise me if people were using the gaming tables etc.. again fairly soon (if they're not already). These places are massive and open 24/7.. a shooting isn't going to stop that, at least not long term. They've still got a big army of staff to pay and they need to keep running in order to do that.

Plenty of people. Yanks will be lining up to stay in a room associated with their country's mass shooting.

It was back open and running as normal by around midday EST with the 32nd floor remaining locked down.

Exactly, I mean who'd have though people would chat about stuff in the news or offer opinions etc.. on an Internet forum....
It's not just chat, though, is it? It's wild, rabid speculation. Hunting down any shred of information that may or may not have anything to do with anything.

a seriously cunning device called a suit case
It is somewhat surprising that a hotel in vegas doesn't have metal detectors, as has been said.

Sheriff Joseph saying the guns in the hotel were whats classed as assault rifles (16 guns inc. handgun), possibly modified for full auto firing!
Also found ammonia nitrate fertilizer in his car

59 Dead now

not particularly wild to point out that a lot of rounds were fired ergo it seemed like it was more than just a magazine being fired into the crowd

or to post about the relevant gun laws in place etc..

not really surprising, given the volume of traffic coming in an out of these places 24 hours a day

Yeah I think you're correct on that point.

Problem is their are 190,000+ PRE-cutoff legal fully auto machine guns nationwide in the US, if you have money (5 figures) then getting hold of one legally really isn't that difficult.
Especially in Nevada where Stephen lived as unlike other states they do NOT impose any further restrictions on legally owned machine guns.

Like airports... they manage just fine with metal detectors and heavy traffic.

The utter selfishness of this act is unimaginable. This scumbag, sent 60 innocent people on to the afterlife before taking his own life.

So many families destroyed forever.

Cant belive he killed 59 and injured 527!

they don't really, they tend to have long queues at times and probably aren't dealing with as many people popping in and out... not to mention there would be a big additional overhead in terms of staff 24/7 on every entrance and baggage scanners, metal detectors etc...

you leave the airport once at the start of your Vegas holiday and go back there once at the end... you leave your hotel and enter other hotels/casinos several times a day for shows, gambling, restaurants, clubs, shopping etc..

it would make coming in and out of any location much more of a faff and so quite obviously they are unlikely to want it...

Apparently some woman was ranting about how "They're all around, you're all going to die!" about an hour before the incident and got escorted away by security. Spooky as ****.

Thoughts to all of the victims and their families.

They are probably dealing with far more people, in a greater hurry and do manage just fine evidenced by the fact they all use them. A bit of a queue isn't really a great excuse.

Not really, how many times do you think that has happened before and no mass shooting has occurred or people have died?

Probably quite a few considering the number of people in the small space, then chuck drink & drugs into the equation and you are more than likely going to get the odd nutter spouting doomsday, end of the world death gibberish :p

it would be a pretty big reason actually for the casino owners... anyway feel free to correct me on the slim chance that they're installed but I suspect they won't be any time soon
