Only sensible way I can see to buy it is getting through John Lewis and taking advantage of staff discount, but then I have to swallow the whole cost in one go, and even then £880 just feels too much for how much I'd use it.

It's a shame because I really like the look of it :(

It's the first halfway modern looking iPhone in years.

Shame it's still lagging behind the top android phones and shame about that pricetag.

People will still buy it though....

Lagging behind?

Benchmarks I've seen show it outperforming the top-tier Android devices.

Who cares about benchmarks on a phone? So it plays angry birds a few frames faster, great.

I'm talking about overall tech. No fingerprint reader?? Having to rely on Samsung for a screen that even competes?

It looks a nice enough phone, but a grand?? It doesn't even innovate in any areas.

I just feel apple have sat back and milked their customers ever since Steve Jobs sadly passed away.

Other than face ID, of course. And the A11 processor.

So Panasonic, Sony and pretty much any other TV manufacturer having to rely on LG for OLED panels means that they are all lagging behind too?

I guess Apple having to rely on TMSC to fab their processors instead of doing it themselves also makes them lagging behind?

It doesn't have a fingerprint reader because they believe they have something better, we'll soon find out if that is the case.

When you can have an s8 for around half the price, why on earth would you buy an iPhone X?

Don't get me wrong, it looks a nice phone, just grossly priced and nothing really new.

I feel the iPhone 8 should not exist, and that this should have had its price tag.

Android is ghastly to use compared to iOS. I know it's cliche to say but it just feels so clunky and unfinished in comparison. Every time I have to use an Android phone, it always feel so unintuitive

Plus android doesn’t integrate with my Apple Watch, iPad and MBP in the same way as An iPhone does.

I guess that is down to individual preference.

I have used both and prefer android.

iOS definitely seems smoother but I do feel it is restrictive and clunky in layout.

That said, it is a few years since I have played with it.

I do... I upgrade to each new generation for the speed bump - it's what I crave because even the fastest device on the market is still too slow for me, they lag behind my mind - so every speed bump is a significant improvement for me.

I haven't played games on my phone in ages - but the new speed bump for the augmented reality games is going to get me interested again. The AR tabletop game they demoed at the keynote looks awesome.

No fingerprint reader? They've moved past that with facial recognition - a technology which is more secure than fingerprint.

You said it was lagging behind - but in your justification of that admitted that it is, in fact, faster - so ahead of the game.

People who don't want the feature set of the X have the iPhone 8 with the same CPU/GPU for practically the same price as the Samsung S8 / Google Pixel 2. That seems competitive, rather than milking.

What's wrong with the screen being built by someone else exactly? Many many many companies do this...

Yeah - I can't stand using Android - I try every few years but it doesn't feel like it's improved much. Last attempt was S6 Edge and I have a Huawei thing for work, but only so I can use WiFi Analyser.

For the same reason people will still purchase the Note 8? Extra features for more money.

I just don't see why you need any more performance from a phone personally.

I feel my s8 is plenty fast enough for any task I throw at it.

I used to have iPhones up until the appalling iPhone 5. I have had android phones ever since, feeling that you get more for your money.

I do keep my eye on the iPhone in case things change and one tempts me back.

The X is definitely the best iPhone since the 4 but just don't think the price is justified.
