Xbox One X

I'm surprised by how quiet it is, it's been on since about 0900 this morning with a game running at all times and it's stayed quiet.

I think the game that I've liked the most is Assassins Creed, that's probably as I haven't played it before though. I tried Tomb Raider again and that in 4K/HDR does look good.

I was expecting Forza to be the stand out title but it really wasn't, it's good but nothing special imo.

How do I know if I have the Call of duty WW2 enhanced update in the game options I can adjust HDR brightness but in my games and apps it does not show in the enchanced games section?

Also a long shot does anyone have a 2015 model Samsung a ju6400 or similar?

I'm impressed..

Played Diablo 3, Halo 5, Elder Scrolls online, Need for Speed: Payback, Fallout 3 (that turned in to a 2 hour wander around!)...

Out of those ESO had the biggest impact, 4k, HDR and improved visuals realllllly look nice, so smooth as well.

I'm looking forward to seeing more 360 games get a 4k boost, FO3 is transformed.

Edit: oh and it's been on for 5 hours and totally silent.

Is there any point in this if you only have 1080p? I am looking at one but dont plan on going down the 4k route until 10bit panels dont cost the earth.

My Forza 7 install is stuck at 51%, its competed from disk just the 60GB update its trying to finish.

Just says queued.

If I press resume update or install it just pops up installation stopped.

Any ideas ?

Thanks Ben

Looks like some are having issues with the machine shutting down and dying after about two hours use, the usual teething troubles of a new machine. I hope these are isolated incidents in the grand scheme of things. I've only managed to play about forty minutes of Q/B so I'm going to have a longer run tonight and see how it goes. I presume everyone's on here have all been behaving?

Okay all set up and had a couple of hours....

The headline.

The Xbox dash is no longer laggy! Fixed one of my major gripes since launch.

Very quiet and certainly looks the part. Scorpio actually looks so much better in real life and see how different light catches it.

Went from one fugly bas to arguably the best looking console ever.

Tested games and yeah res is higher, run better and look better but that's probably the most underwhelming part.

There isn't anything to match what the pro does with Horizon and might not be without more exclusive content.

Regardless, I knew what I was buying and happy with it.

Mainly posting this for the LOLs and also so I can screen responses but...

My friend has said you don’t need a 4k TV for the Xbox One X and you can use a 32” 1080p with 60hz and visually it won’t be different to a 4K HDR....

On a 32" sat more than 5ft away then then gains resolution wise certainly diminish when it comes to 1080p vs 4K

To get a real benefit in the living room environment I would recommend 55" plus based on regular distance from TV

However, HDR will offer vast improvements so in that respect they are talking balls.

This chart provides examples:

Sat more than 5 feet away from a 32" screen would require binoculars.

I have a 49" HDR TV and sit about 7 feet away, the difference from 1080P to 4K is stark, added HDR is sublime (although HDR makes an impact at 1080P also)

Anyone who says different either need glasses or they are very salty because they cannot afford a half decent TV, I'm talking less than £1000 here.

I have a LG 49UH77V that cost £750 about a year ago, does HDR10 and I would consider it an entry level HDR set and the HDR effect is amazing... I will get a decent OLED at some point and the effect will be even better.

Initially I'll make do with the internal HDD, but what are people buying when the need for an external drive develops?

I have a 2tb portable seagate that I used on the S, it only has Horizon 3 on it, was thinking about a 4tb version but then I thought I would make do with 2tb for now, I manage my games and tend to delete anything I no longer play so for me I believe 2tb is plenty.

If you buy lots of games and like to keep them on the drive then I would get at least a 4tb.
