Boris Johnson puts his foot in it again

One only has to look at the educational background of this countrie's leaders and wannabe leaders to see that a public /private school education is a superb start for your kids. As Avenged says, a lot depends on WHO you know. Same with the Masons, contacts get you things done (or undone.... :))

How would they get to the top without greasing palms and trading chips?

Who would even let them get a chance at being voted in if they were that sort of person?

I think you will find connections and money will take you further than being clever. A private education does not buy you smarts but depending on where the private education is, it can most definitely buy you more connections.

The Speaker said the Eton crowd in Parliament are tighter than the Masons regardless of Party.

Private schools actually teach children ambition and to take charge. They have the old fashioned "make a man of you" ethos. State schools are more concerned with trying to fill you full of the "right" social attitudes and shuffling you off to not cause too much trouble in life.

What a load of cobblers.

Look at the person who hasn't gone to both and has awful opinions.

e: h4rm0ny - where did you school?

high EQ/social intelligence and lots of confidence (which plenty of privately educated people have in spades) are the main ones IMO - anyone can make connections, private schooled or not (IMO you get better career related connections via university and better still when you start working and network a bit).. with modern HR departments the days of some manager doing a favour for the son of a friend and sorting out a job in the city are largely over in big international companies (obviously it can and does still happen to some extent but not for the same reasons and is less common - one example being my mate who was stuck with a ****wit grad from China whose parents happened to be high up in the communist party and were rather helpful to the bank)

Concerned that I'm agreeing with you twice in one week

Funnily enough I was having a conversation with the wife yesterday (no, not down "my" pub...) and she said Hamilton was now the most successful British born F1 racing driver of all time, but he still, despite all the time on TV and being interviewed in public, came across badly. I mentioned James Hunt, whose charisma took him from successful F1 driver, and heartthrob of beautiful socialite darlings across the world, through to being stylish, eloquent and well loved TV F1 commentator. I just bet myself he'd had a private education and checked him out. Yep, Wellington College, Berkshire.

From WikipediaL The school is a member of the Rugby Group, which includes Harrow School and Charterhouse School, and is also a member of the G20 Schools group. The Good Schools Guide calls the school "a serious player in the field of education".

Can't beat a private education to polish you up.

the alt right/4chan loons seem to have this concept borrowed from the matrix of taking the "red pill" where after repeated exposure to their views people convert to their way of thinking, maybe all my posting on here has had a similar subliminal effect - though rather than nationalist/MRA type views though you're starting to agree with me and my ranting, you've fallen down the rabbit hole and have taken... "the dowie pill" - perhaps a signal that it's time to step away from the computer :D
