Doesn't seem to be as much choice as in previous years.

The Nintendo switch is really expensive, and it looks like I'd have to buy 2 of them as I have 2 kids and they are like handhelds? Way expensive to be buying two of them.

Ps vita is a few years old now. 2ds/3ds same.

What's going on?

We already have two xbox 360's in the house. I was tempted at the PS Vita as its portable. They already have android tablets too. But PS Vita seems old now and the Switch doesn't seem like a good replacement.

Was hoping for something like a PS4 portable.

Is the PS Vita discontinued now as Im struggling to find it for sale?

The Switch isn't only a handheld it hooks up to the TV like a normal console. There are some great co-op games which are a blast for adults and children. No-brainer. May get some in-fighting if they start wanting to play handheld though.

I wouldn't recommend a vita at this point, it's a good system but as good as dead now. Sony just didn't give it the support it needed, maybe why it's hard to find? 3DS is on its way out too but in terms of catalogue of games, it's library is huge and games are probably easy to find at lower prices.

In terms of a modern system with a future ahead of it, and hand held, then it has to be the Switch but if you have to buy 2 then I can see the issue! It's a fantastic system mind and in the early stages of its life it has shown promise and has had fantastic support so far

Well I was going to get a PS4 Pro, but then discovered that, for some bizarre reason, it doesn't come with a UHD drive. So I thought I'd get a XBox One X instead, but now I've just discovered that games require patches in the ~50-100GB range - so that's another console out of the window.

Guess I'll be sticking with PC for the time being.

Silly buying 2 of the same console when it is a plug into the tv one, especially at £300 each.

Think better waiting till next gen ps console is out? Hopefully not too long, ps4 been out for ages now.

The PS5 won’t be around for at least three years. It’s not a question of timing it’s just a question of technology. Bar the CPU the 1X is about as good a console as could be built for the money, so there’s little headroom for expansion on the Pro/1x in the short term.

The Switch definitely seems the way to go these days...there's been some cracking releases lately. Couldn't you just get one to share at first and see how it goes down? The portability combined with the home screen set up is a major plus too.

Can't your kids share it?

My mate has two boys and they share theirs. They each have their own profiles on it so they don't ruin each others save games.

Sounds so simple doesnt it lol.

My older son is at an age now where he often wants to play games in the privacy of his room. My younger son then wants to get involved. A single handheld component is bound to cause issues here.

I also think there would be something cool about playing 2 player games on their own screen. Split screen 2 player is never as good.

Something like the modern version of the vita would have been ideal. We could get a ps4 or xbone for the main tv in the living room and they'd have their own portables for playing separately.

Wait until Black Friday and I'm positive you will get some absolute steals for like 2 XB1 or PS4. Don't know what your budget is but heard there are deals for Xbox One S with a load of games for £200, grab one of them and snipe an original shape XB1 on Gumtree and you could get that for like £300 with games.

I don’t think anyone has expressly pointed out that you can play two player games on the switch without a TV - each joy con being a controller.

Getting two switches seems totally overkill and a waste of money tbh.

Can’t remember me and my brother arguing over the mega drive lol, funny how things change.
