Why does the UK hate cyclists?

I think most of it just frustration at being held up, especially on busy country roads where you have a constant stream of oncoming traffic and very few safe overtaking places, makes you cringe when you see people get so close overtaking a cyclist.

That said I think it takes either bravery or perhaps stubbornness to cycle at rush hour, I tried it and you could feel the hate from the drivers behind

Combine the above with muppets overtaking too close and the potential to be wiped out on any blind corner (you can't drive expecting to meet a cyclist on every blind bend, the fact more don't get hit amazes me) means I'd rather stay in my safe metal box getting fat.

I dislike the one that cycles on the A22 to Uckfield each morning going south. There's just not enough room for lorries to overtake with oncoming traffic at rush hour. Essentially, she just holds everyone up.

And she will know perfectly well that she is holding everyone up, and she wont care in the least....

I enjoy recreational cycling, along the canal, off road in the woods, etc.

But I wont ride on the road, I just don't have it in me to be sufficiently inconsiderate and antisocial enough to be able to do it.

Shame really, because I would like to cycle to the local shops, but I just cant bring myself to cause even more congestion on local roads that are already bad.

Question. In all seriousness, is there any other activity that causes other people as much inconvenience and annoyance as Road Cycling that isn't otherwise specifically prohibited or liable to get repeat offenders an ASBO or some other legal sanction.

And no, I dont need to provide evidence that road cycling is sufficiently antisocial to **** of huge numbers of people. The existence of threads like this is proof of it.

I got shouted out at last week for riding through a red light.

The policeman behind kindly educated the driver on what an ASL was and gave him a 60 quid fine to help him remember

Find that hard to believe - it would normally be a section 59 or section 5, etc. depending on circumstances not a fine.

Yes, driving to the shops when it would be perfectly doable to cycle or walk instead.

Selfish ******* clogging up the roads for non-essential journeys with massive metal boxes and spewing out pollution.

Unlike London motorists however, I regularly have to dodge London cyclists when working around on the pavements.

It's not a myth. At night you can't see a bikes weedy lights against the ones from cars, but you can see hi-viz. That's the point of it.

Except actual studies testing that show that hi vis doesn’t improve visibility. Like, actual science, not just you typing words on a forum.

Reflective stuff, sure, but not hi vis. You can have reflective bits on clothes that aren’t hi vis.

Haha yeah I think the copper was going to do him for road rage (said something about public order act causing harassment, alarm or distress or something) til he realised there was a bigger fine/penalty available. Copper did take a statement from me where he asked if I was distressed or fearful (I said I was traumatised obviously).

I don't like cyclists because I'm trying to drive safely and that's really hard to do with cyclists weaving about.
If they had their own cycle paths it'd be fine.

Absolutely, the school run taking your fat lumps a couple of miles to school plugging up the roads and parking all over the place near the school baring in mind catchments areas are normally within a few kms. You can see a serious lack of congestion when the schools are on holiday. As I said already, the morons that drive on the motorway that think utilising 66% of the road is a sensible use of road space. The 40mph driver that seemingly does 40mph everywhere no matter the limit. The German car driver that happily tailgates, cuts people up and generally drives like a selfish ****, white van man and taxi drivers are pretty much the same.
