afternoon all need some urgent help.

Im staying in Amsterdam at the end of the year, had booked a hotel in Almere and I was nosying through Booking.com and stumbled on the hilton in Amsterdam for £150 for 5 nights!
clearly a price glitch, but theyve taken payment, i have photos of my confirmation and everything - can they try and charge me the standard rate when I arrive or anything? worried about cancelling my room at Almere for them to refuse me upon arrival due to "oversold rooms" or some rubbish.

Thanks

lots of people were viewing and booking so i booked, I paid up front and theyve taken payment. Im trying to find who to contact whether its booking.com or hilton themselves (preferably without ringing holland!)

Your contract is with Booking, having said that I have emailed the hotel company direct before just to confirm the booking with them as I get paranoid about the possibility of some dodgy hotel reneging on the arrangement, or the comparison site not passing on the booking. You could drop an email asking them to confirm you have the room, no need to mention the price unless they do.

why would you call them up and tell them they've made an error?

If you've paid up front, unless they realise it and cancel it - do nothing.

Good chance it will be cancelled on the day or the day before. At least that is what has happened to people I know in the past - unless they are real ***** usually they will acknowledge the mistake was on their part and offer a discounted rate on the correct price as an alternative. In most cases their terms and conditions will cover them in this scenario not to mention the rules in other countries can be different to the UK on this.

Don't think it's as cut and dry as that. Amazon have cancelled orders due to price mistakes previously. I'd imagine a hotel booking would work the same way.

For online orders depending on terms and conditions the retailer is usually covered up until the point of dispatch.

Resellers like Bookings.com buy up job lots under deals not available to you or I. Deals can be all sorts of strange. It's entirely possible that Bookings.com had some particular tangle they'd got themself into and had to just wanted to offload it. Like some sell or return fee or 'must sell this amount of bookings' or whatever. In any case so long as you have receipts and confirmations, you should be okay. Call the hotel for piece of mind in advance and just make sure they've heard of you and have you down for a room on those dates.

Spoke to them - Booking.com spoke to the hilton who have HONOURED the PRICE! 5* hotel for 5 nights over new years for £134!!!!! buzzing isnt the word

See? Doesn't that feel nicer than weeks of uncertainty whether you're going to be charged more or not! :)

yeah i'm absolutely ecstatic. they did actually say had i not called and raised it to their attention, when they realised it would be their policy to cancel & refund, but because I notified them they could correct it from further mispriced bookings, they honoured my room.

So all in, 12pm flights there and back, 5 nights in the hilton 5* hotel in central amsterdam over new years, £350 exactly for the two of us. absolutely overjoyed.

Mispriced? Or clever marketing? ;)
