i7 8700K @ 5300MHz achieved, advice needed on temps

Oh and for the record I cant believe the 8700K has shot up in price by £100! I only paid £320 odd when they first went on pre-order, now they're pushing £500! I feel so lucky, hit the silicone lottery I think too.

I know what you mean, my PC is no monster, but I wouldn't like to buy my ram kit and gpu now!

Think I accidentally built it at just the right time!

I haven't even got a GPU yet. OCUK dont do the ASUS 1080 Strix anymore. I might have to source it elsewhere. I'm having to rely on the UHD iGPU 630 which isnt half bad if I keep the resolution down @ medium settings.

One question... 1080 Strix or 1070 Ti Strix? They look almost identical spec for spec, only about 120 cores between them.

I just bought a used EVGA 1080 FTW for less than the cost of a 1070ti, and it still has 2 years warranty.

EVGA service and transferable warranty = priceless.

I wouldn’t go with any other manufacturer until all can match what EVGA offer.

Using this iGPU is driving me crazy and my PC looks weird without a GPU lol. PM me for different outlets for 1080s if you can. I'd rather get an Asus card to match my mobo, I'm a little OCD over things like that lol

The Strix is without doubt a great card, it’s just £4-500 is a lot, considering ASUS customer service is next to useless if/when you need to use it (hopefully you’ll never have to but having the peace of mind helps)

If buying ASUS anything I would deliberately buy from the retailer with the most sympathetic returns policy.

If buying EVGA I would be happy buying from anywhere.

IMO new GPU pricing takes the absolute ****, so used EVGA cards (with warranty) provide the best bang for the buck.

Once you can find a decent tool, delid for sure. I'm running 5GHz on the core, cache/ring and no AVX offset atm (but my chip will do 5.2 core) and my temps are in the high 60s in Realbench stress. BTW from one 8700k owning Scouse dweller to another, your sig is 4 lines too long mate. You're only allowed 4 (fairly short) lines of text in your signature, and sometimes when the 'Preview' shows it's OK your real sig on the forum will wrap onto an extra line, making your sig infraction worthy again. You need to chop it down lad.

Solid cpu.

I have four better out of over 200 units. The best being 5.4 1.325v before delid. The other three are 5.3 1.35-1.4 before delid.

This is a top 8% cpu good find.

More and more are indeed like that. The average is now 4.9 not 5ghz as previously.

Early batch was good then, mine will run at 5.3 with memory (8Pack ;)) at 4,133.

Defo delid it, high end water cooling but my temps don’t really get over 70 with 1.35/1.4v.

I'm getting 5ghz stable at 1.31V (70C under stress test load). For now I've decided to leave it at 5ghz as in real world usage there will be no difference at 5.1 or 5.2. I am slightly interested to see how far the chip will go with a delid though.

I am not surprised ^
Ordered one of your binned chips is 5ghz a minimum garrentee?

What’s your batch number?I have high end water 1 triple and 1 double rad and with 1.335 I’m hitting 80c
