OCUK GAMING KIN'YOBI VR GAMING PC

When you put all those parts together in the basket, you see that what you get is the build fee waived, which is decent. But not as spectacular as the "Save £199.99" sounds. The savings probably have to do with discounts on Ryzen processors which are about to end, and also on memory, plus the build fee waiving, which adds up to the savings of about £200. The PSU is low quality and Ryzen deserves faster RAM than 2400MHz. I'd ask for changes to be made to those so you get a bit more performance and hopefully more longevity from a system you're spending a good chunk on.

Or make your own custom spec and ask for a build quote, something like this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,346.46 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Better PSU, faster RAM, good cooler, 5 year warranty on that Zotac 1070. Build fee would take it up to around £1,400 total (this can vary).

However, there could be other changes to be made based on your requirements, such as what will you use the computer for? Which monitor (resolution/refresh rate/Gsync or Freesync or no sync)? Depending on your needs you could have a Ryzen 1600 paired with a GTX 1070Ti for example, as the Ryzen 1800X only comes into its own with heavy streaming, rendering, multitasking, and is unnecessary for just gaming.

Thanks Danny, I think I got a bit excited when I saw the Ryxen 1800 within my price range. I agree that the Ram was not good enough.

I am looking to use the computer for a variety of Things, gaming, (strategy, RPG, RTS and some older games) office work (word, excel) and some InDesign and Photoshop.

I was looking to go down the Ryxen route which seems better value for money at the moment.

With regards to the monitor, I am currently using an old 24" 1080 50-60 hrz monitor. I was planning on getting a nicer 27" 1440 monitor further down the line, which allows me to spend all of my budget on the computer (I don' need keyboard & mouse).

I Will have a little extra money for them to build me the system, so my full budget will be £1,500

Moving forward, it would be good to see the best computer that I can get both with or without a monitor.

Does anyone else have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

If your getting zotac, warranty with a pre-built one is better then your stand along 5 year one . You'll have to read zoatc T&C about were it goes for the remanding 2/3 years left

Thanks Orbital. I have been thinking it might be best to go back and start again. Any chance you (or anyone else for that matter) could help with the requirements above. Two system builds, one with a monitor and one without. I have a total budget of £1,500

Just a shame Vega 56 stock out in the sales, £380 for one of those and £209 for a 32" VA 75hz freesync monitor would have been killer

You just gaming or streaming /multimedia etc ?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,200.13 (includes shipping: £15.30)

Went in under budget with Ryzen and rx580

Intel £1500 build (no monitor):

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,513.96 (includes shipping: £14.10)

AMD £1500 build (no monitor):

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,522.47 (includes shipping: £12.60)

Thanks orbital/southernorth. Looking really good. I wil need to think about those builds.

orbital - that's a good set up for the price. I'm happy to go higher for a better spec.Would I have the budget to add the vega card and a smaller but better monitor (27")?

South - that last AMD looks really good. Very tempting!

How do the vega 56 /64 cards compare to the 1070/1080? The freesync monitors are much cheaper.

I'm not suggesting you rush into a decision, but the Ryzen price discounts all end at midnight.

Also, I think the final build is the best choice based on the games you play. Monitor is a great price, Ryzen is discounted etc. Only issue is the GPU is on pre-order - you could buy the cheaper Palit 1070ti as an alternative if needed.

@OP

This is a good spec (gigabyte board also which have great support) and with the £300 saved that could get you a Vega which will have a much easier time driving a 1440P monitor.

And a 1TB HDD.

Limited VRM cooling with a basic power delivery system on that motherboard, might not be great for overclocking. Good price though.

Thanks South. I do like your last build. Although I think I might wait to get a better monitor.

Can you recommend a nicer case (with some "Go faster lights")

However, if the discounts end tonight. I might have to rethink. But it's looking good!

For gaming you would be wise to get a 144+Hz screen, rather than 60 or 75Hz, the difference it makes is MASSIVE.

P.S about that Asrock board, its not that good and it actually has less power phases then the Gigabyte board - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KzRG_LjUl8Q

The Gigabyte board has 4 true cpu power phases;)

I agree. I just want to focus on the system for now and get the monitor In a few months. Or hope that I have been a good boy and Santa puts a shinny new monitor under my tree!

AsRock is one of the better motherboard manufactures, hardly junk. They just don't spend much on marketing.

Yeah they used to be worse when Asus owned them. Infact they make arguably some of the best Ryzen motherboards. I'd take a Taichi board over anything Asus make, infact it's either ASRock or Gigabyte for me on Ryzen in general.

If anything it's Asus that's turning into "junk" and living off their name, their boards have nothing but issues, Ryzen was a disaster and their Coffee lake boards had lot's of voltage issues.
