nothing, has any expert explained it yet?
I expect it's just another brain error which feels on the blanks. Looks like it should make some noise and so some people here it.

I'll add it to my list of brain errors. :p

I suppose the big question is, if you showed it to a large group of people that didn't know you could possibly hear it would anyone still hear it? Could easily be put down to suggestion.

They would as that's how it started off. It was just a gif in a competition and people started posting they could here something. So I see no reason why a blind test wouldn't result in the same.

One person they posted they could hear it, maybe they could, maybe it was a joke. Others could have picked up on it, a mini mass hysteria effect.

Would be an interesting experiment at least :D

I think the Jurassic Park trex water tremors may trigger a response in me more than this, because I know what it is supposed to sound like.

I can "feel" it, would be intereting to see whether that changes if the thing landing on the ground was something else but with the same screen shaking effect etc

More of a feeling than actually hearing it. As if my inner ear is bracing itself for the loud noise that's about to occur.
