**Unofficial Tyre Thread**

Does anyone have any suggestions for decent tyres for a Nissan 370Z? I'm looking to invest in both a summer and winter set.

Front - 245/40R19 W 94
Rear - 275/35R19 W 96

After a bit of research and shopping on Black Circles, it's clear the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (or 4s) are well recommended for general / summer tyres. The problem is it looks like I can't get either of these in both front & rear sizes, I can only get the MPS4 on the fronts and the 4S on the back. Would this be recommended or should consistency be ensured?

For winter tyres, it seems a similar story..

Thank you

They definitely exist in your front fitment, and they're currently the best performance tyre. I would've thought something like a Continental SC6 would be better in current weather though.

I see them on camskill, but both Black Circle and QuickFit don't have them, just a Pilot Primacy.

The Khumo Ecsta seem to be fairly well rated. Would I be silly to look at the cheaper tyres?

If you can’t get the Michelin then the Goodyear AS3 isn’t a bad 2nd choice.

This is the tyre size I have, it's often the case that one tyre is available in fronts rather than rears and its very annoying.

I went for Eagle F1 A3 in the end. Happy with them.

Winter tyres are even more of a pain, you'd be better with a second set of smaller non staggered wheels (275 wide tyres in the snow is going to be crap regardless of tyre type anyway).

Depends what you want / are expecting really along with just how much cheaper they are imo

We have hankook k125's on the fiesta and they're a good tyre, expect the kumho would be similar. It's difficult to compare them to anything as my ST has such an increase in width Vs the fiesta . When I bought new fronts for mine recently there wasn't much of a price difference between Hankooks and Dunlop Sportmaxx / eagle f1's so I never even considered them

Is there a big difference in the older F1 A2 and the newer F1 A3, as i've got A3 on the front and A2 on the rear of my Z4. I'm not really too impressed with the A2's on the rear. I'm considering ditching the F1's completely.

I've just had a set of PS4's fitted to my wife's C-Max, to replace the ditchfinders, impressed with the initial difference, even though the drive home was damp and only a couple of miles, so expect them to improve some yet once worn in a little over the next few miles.

Ended up changing from 215/50/17 to 215/45/17, as they were £140 cheaper for a full set of 4.

Tyre recomendations for a Peugeot 208 GTi by Peugeot Sport? 205/40/R18 tyres are required. Got the default michellins on at the moment, with still a nice 6-7mm on the back, but 3.7mm-4.4mm ish on the front. First ever hot hatch owned, so don't really know what I'm looking for. The Yokohama V701 (A/E/67db) seems to be a good middle ground on price and performance (£454.62 for 4 fitted and wheel alignment), but any recommendations welcome!

PS4's are the no brained assuming they are reasonably priced - but we're circa £25 a corner more expensive in 235 40 18 for me than both as3 and sportmaxx rt2's

Bizarrely couldn't get the as3 from anyone at the time so went for Dunlop, they've been great for the short time I've had them. Were priced within a few quid of the Goodyear

Assuming that's for me, they work out at £173 each (Yokohama £134 each)

Only £3 less a corner than the Dunlop fitted - every tyre test I can find with both rate the Dunlop quite a bit higher, most withvit in the top few tyres. Though I haven't honestly used Yoko's for years so not saying they're bad

PS4's are £158 fitted on black circles btw, I wouldn't pay £20 a corner extra for them on grip (had them on the last car), but they may well last longer - have only had the current tyres a few months so no idea yet

Why replace all 4 when only two are low (and they're not THAT low tbh, probably thousands of miles left in them still!)? If you're intent on replacing them then buy two new Michelin's (same type as fitted now), move the back tyres to the front and have the new ones put on the back. Job done.

I have several questions:

A) why are you even looking at new tyres when yours aren't even close to being worn?
B) This aside, why would you ever replace all four?
C) Why would you take off unworn Michelin's then pay someone nearly £500 to put on four Yokohama's?!

Any thoughts on the Continental Sport Contact? They came out well on a test I was reading against others.

The CSC6? Meant to be an excellent tyre, but reportedly wears quite quickly. If the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is available in your size, this would be, IMO, a better alternative.

They're actually the 5 on the front and 3 on the back. I can't get the Michelin for the front, not through BlackCircles anyway. I did find someone that would come and fit, but they were very expensive with them, just under £1200 for all four.
