Do you give anyone a tip at Christmas.

NAD, Pioneer, Schiit, Denon.
Have you been at the Christmas Spirits already

I've read this twice and still have no idea what you're talking about.

Twice was enough for me to decypher it:

It was an absolute lock that a post like that would be forthcoming.
They expected this because most threads about tipping include a reply stating that people shouldn't be tipped for executing the standard duties of their job.
I give my barber an extra tip, anyone who make a one and half on
the sides, and a two on top look as good as he does, deserves it.
His barber cuts his hair to 1.5" on the side of the head, 2" on top of the head and he believes that the result looks very good, so he tips the barber.

Er no.

Christmas can lick my plums anyway, but I see no reason to tip someone for doing their job to the expected standard. If someone always went above and beyond then perhaps, but I don't see how someone delivering letters or picking up bins is doing that. At least not around here.

Can we just rename the thread skinflints come out of the woodwork. :):):)

It's the season of goodwill, so be nice to people for a change, give them a tip and be happy.

When I was a paperboy, Christmas was the absolute nuts for tips.

I only earnt a tenner a week but I used to pick up over a hundred every year from my round.

I get around £500 in tips as a postie but i've been on my delivery for 6 years, the guy i work with got about £1500 last year and £2000 the year before but he is the biggest kiss up in the world.

I give my postie a tenner.

We bought gifts for all of the people who look after our daughters at their Day Care and After School Care, as well as their nanny. So not strictly tips but still appreciation and thanks for tremendous service.

This crossed my mind too, but as we spend 2K a month on childcare and 2018 prices have gone up 4.4% due to pay rises, I thought better of it!!

No, i dont tip full stop.

The best service you can provide is the minimum anyone should expect to receive from someone when they are being paid to provide said service.

If the pay you get for providing that service isnt enough, get a better job.

If you cant get a better job, sucks to be you.

**** giving people a tip for the sake of it.

Oh its christmas, give this random stranger i am already paying to do something slightly more money for absolutely no reason at all.

Within the last five minutes I've just bunged the postie a fiver. We've had the same guy for a while, he's always happy enough and I see him and pass the time of day with him as I do my daily exercise walks. No problems with chucking him a few quid.

My lad learned about this very quickly when he was a paperboy. Around the second week of December, when he did his round, he'd drop a Christmas card in with all his deliveries and then watch the profit roll in!

I tip my barber - normally get him a bottle of whiskey and don't ask for change from £20. He's an amusing chap, apart from being uncomfortably casually racist.

I just tipped my barber (only been there 2nd time) Last time he charged me £12 so was gonna give him £15 but this time he only charged £9 so he only got a pound tip for making up prices.

I do if they earn it. Woman today gave me a trim instead of a shave because she recommended it. I gave her extra and told her to keep the change and buy herself a drink for Xmas.
Little things. Her husband gave me an evil glare but I knew she was married and I'm not like that. I'd have given the tip to any of them.

Have tipped binmen, postman and recycling guys in the past but this year only tipped the amazon driver. Figured the others get paid a stable wage while the poor overworked sods from amazon must struggle. Could be wrong but I like our amazon driver.
