OMG it's [current year], don't they know that not considering race and just picking some women who have had some achievements this year isn't good enough, they don't seem to realise that whet they're supposed to do if they really want to be progressive is to ensure they have a token black or asian present any time they feature some white people otherwise they're 'problematic' and 'part of the problem'

I recognise Margot, Jessica and Kate but who are the other three - especially the Deidre Rasheed lookalike :p?

what is the [current year] thing all aboot?

Its an argument commonly deployed to argue for 'progressive' ideas

I. E 'its 2017 so surely its time that America had its first female president'

There an almost text book example of this weak like of reasoning in the linked article on a twitter feed....

It is almost 2018. If you're a white woman and someone asks you to pose for a group picture, for a magazine cover, with only other white women, YOU SAY NO.

Of course this is a particularly stupid line of reasoning... America is still a majority 'white' country and certain publications are likely to have an even more skewed 'white' readership then the population demographics alone would imply.

Unfortunately its considered 'progressive' (and therefore a good thing regardless of merit or other argument) to make such things 'diverse' by inclusion of an often disproportionate amount of 'people of colour' mainly on the sole basis of their skin colour.

Dowie do you actively go looking for outrage or something?

Nope, I read a variety of news sources and happen to see stuff like this which I thought was slightly amusing and rather farcical.

Ffs dowie you can post some drivel sometimes.

It being drivel is part of the reason for me posting it. No one is forcing you to read my threads though.
