help picking parts for gaming -

I want to build a new pc for gaming and would like help picking the parts I will need that is best suited ? my budget is £1400 , this will have to include windows 10 , I wouldn’t need a screen as I plan to use my 4k TV .

For some notes I don’t think I will need high spec graphics as a lot of my games are like star bound , minecraft , and most recently playing empyrion – galactic survival . I also want something that is upgradeable in time if I need too,

Similar to tamz , but had posted this already and is a gtx 1080ti .... Haha, if you do want to try and play COD at 4k, should do lol

Using tamz storage or case solution would be nice and 16gb ram would help out

Again, 1080ti isn't overkill for 4k in general but might be for some of the games you currently play​

Seems good thanks , I think I will have as go myself and build this , I just want to know with the amd Ryzen 5 will I need to flash the bios to stop any compatibility issues or will it just work from the off?

it should work from the off, as board manufacturers have now had months to work on their bioses. that being said, not all boards come with the latest bios installed.
i'm assuming you're a new hand at pc building, so my advise would be to build the computer first and then seeing if there's any issues.
if there's no issues then leave bios alone, and only update if there's issues.
(tbh, bios updates are pretty painless - but if it goes wrong then you've bricked your board)

also fyi, the os that i've specced is the dvd option. you may notice that there's no dvd drive - what you do is to go to the microsoft website and download windows 10 to a usb to install on the new computer - of course you'll need to have access to a computer to do this (the licence keys are the same)
else then get the usb version for a few bob more(currently oos at ocuk)

I guess I should have asked this before but I will be using a 4k tv will there be any loss of quality using it with hdmi as I think the pc screens use different inputs?

your tv will need to support either dp 1.2 or hdmi 2.0 to display 4k@60hz.
hdmi 1.4 only does 4k@ 30hz

specifically to answer your question about loss of quality, then no. although what you may find is that the input lag of a tv is higher than that of a monitor, so your mouse pointer/kb strokes may look marginally delayed. of course it depends on what tv you have. some brands are worse than others

cpu, yes, if you have budget to spare, then i recommend the thermal grizzly cryonaut.
for the gpu, then yes, you could replace it, but you'll need to unscrew the cooler to get to the core, if you're unsure of what you're doing, best to leave the gpu alone
(the gpu comes as a unit, you don't have to apply anything, just slot it into the pci-e slot)

hard choice, for out and out gaming currently the 8600k would outperform the 1600, but if games become more multithreaded, the 1600 could possibly be better for the future
of course that being said, as a platform, the 8600k has a £100+ premium over the 1600 platform

yes from what I have read the 1600 might be more upgradeable over time don't know if that is true , the ram you suggested seems to be out of stock and I am not sure which others to get.

it's true. amd are committed to supporting the am4 platform until at least 2020, so its a case of drop in a new processor if you find that a 1600 doesnt cut the mustard in the future.
whereas for intel, you'd need to buy a new motherboard as well, so the upgrade cost will be definitely more

same ram, same price, just in a different colour scheme (black/red), but will go well with the giga board - since that's also black/red too :P
 
! I just noticed the cpu says it comes with a AMD Wraith Spire CPU cooler and I don't know if you had noticed or you picked the cool master to get better temperatures?

Gaming.. 8600k . 8400 just out performs it with max 3600hz ram paired, overclocked 8600k is a solid choice. 3200hz 8 pack ram with Aorus board and you can hit 3800/4000 Hz like I did when I used a 8700k .
But...... £250 + £140 for Intel cpu/Mobo version £165+ £87 of Ryzen ....

When I picked up the 8400 for a friend is was £170... So that lead to building both and seeing which is which, but that's now risen to £210 and makes the choice not worth it and might as well pick the K

Aftermarket will give up to 20c cooler when OC to 4ghz....

I like everything in the list and this is what I am going to get, but I noticed I already have a spare wd 1tb HDD so I was thinking of getting a PM961 Polaris 256GB M.2-2280 PCI-e 3.0 x 4 NVMe Solid State Drive to install windows 10 on . Just wondering if you think this is a good option for that ?
