Mince Beef Pies disappear from Supermarket shelves.

Ah Frey Bentos, I remember these fondly from my uni days. I still wonder how the hell the board room discussion went when the new guy rocked up with "Guys, lets shove a pie in a tin!".

I suppose it could have been a case of "Hey Jerry, remember that time I joked about shoving pies in tins in a management meeting.....and then they did it?"

Fray Bentos actually has a long and interesting history...

They're not pies. Frey Bentos sell meat soup with a pastry lid. That's not a pie.

Why would you choose a mince and onion pie over a steak and onion? Second question is why would you buy either from a supermarket?

Mince Beef, Chips and Beans (Peas) was the main stay of colleges in Sheffield in the early 1990's. Every one we went to had the same mince beef, chips, and beans on every lunchtime. When you've grown up on it you miss it when its gone.

Been round quite a few supermarkets in West Yorkshire.
WHO ATE ALL THE MINCE BEEF PIES !!

Boxing Day I made Chicken Pie. New Years day I made Mince Beef Pie. Kids loved it. What is the world coming to when you cant buy a decent one.

Next time I go in I`m going to ask why they do not stock them any more. Then I`m going to write to Watchdog.

Personally I prefer Steak & Kidney.

Offal, lovely.

Probably for the same reason you can't buy Princes tuna in garlic & herb mayo !
Damn I used to love that.

Oh.. And "All Sauce" from HP (Aston)

[Edit]

Not forgetting Lincoln malt biscuits too
