*** Nintendo Switch ***

Went to purchase Stardew Valley from the Mexican store but it didn't accept my currency card/travel card :(

It's got enough money in it. So I guess it just might not like it.

Either way, was thinking about these temporary electronic credit cards you can setup for specific amounts for secure purchasing. Anyone tried this for different Switch shops?

Normally if the difference is minimal I wouldnt bother but it's almost 3 x the price in the PT store.

There's no cards or any other way to get games from the Mexico store.

What about PayPal? Also when my cards were refused in the US store I bought eCards from the region and that worked.

Ecards. - sorry, I can't remember what they are called.

I wouldn't say the online service overall is "rubbish" (considering its currently free too), I find actual online play is very smooth and have never experienced issues getting online or lag in my 200+ hours online. Its fairly easy to play with friends - as long as you've planned ahead.

Now, if you're just talking about supporting social features then yes it's a bit rubbish right now.

I also find it funny that people think the online service should be free. Last time I checked whether something is any good or not servers don't pay for themselves.

I don't mind paying for it, especially considering the other benefits and how cheap it is.
I'm not mad that they're charging for it or anything.
My feeling is that keeping it free could be better for Nintendo in the long term however, considering their family / 'for everyone' focus too, many younger people will now have that barrier to get online.

It's worth noting that playing PC games online is free, so many developers are able to fund server costs just fine without charging extra. Playing online with Nintendo consoles has been free for many years now (ds, wii, 3ds, wiiu).

It's not a big deal really, I just kinda feel Nintendo could run a successful subscription service without having to charge for online play.

What other benefits? Besides a NES game each month that you can only play during that month? We don't know anything else about what their service will offer do we?

I need to check but I'm pretty sure they changed that :)

Now unlimited access to the NES titles :)

Its going to be a library of games, so it'll be a growing number of games you have access too while the subscription is active, not 1 game per month. It may include SNES games at some point later too, they haven't said it will be limited to NES.

“Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will have ongoing access to a library of classic games with added online play. Users can play as many of the games as they want, as often as they like, as long as they have an active subscription.”

The other benefits are exclusive sales and use of the Switch Online App.

What's the general opinion on spaltoon 2? Is it a game me and my 10 year old would enjoy?

It's a fantastic game, and I've played it more than all of the other games on the Switch combined.

The non-ranked mode is really well designed for kids too because you can do well even if you can't kill anyone. It's a great introduction to online shooters.

Single player is lacking though.

That's good to hear as i was more interested in the mp side of the game anyway. I've seen a few videos and it does look fun.

Just managed to get a copy off avforums for £33

First splatoon was great, I've not got the 2nd as I'm not investing in an online game just to stop when it gets paywalled.

Every thumbstick does this with time. It should reach a level where it stabilises and doesn't get much looser, but if it's loose enough that it moves by itself then Nintendo should repair it.

Thanks, it seems fine. I played a lot of mario in portable and while it is looser than the other stick for whatever reason, it doesn't move by itself or cause any issues. As long as Nintendo will cover if it got worse, then it's fine.

I finally got around to starting Mario+Rabbids, only done chapter 1 and a few challenges but very impressed so far. I can see myself playing it to 100%.

The presentation is fantastic too, has that pixar-esque quality to it.
