Winter 2017/2018 - Thread

Tried to leave for work about 40 minutes ago, couldn't even leave the flats car park, was just sheet ice covered in about 3" of snow. Good thing really because the whole road is the same and I live at the top of a very steep hill, so if I did get down it, I'd not be getting back up any time soon.

First world dilemma of the day...

Do I brave the snow-pocalypse and gusty winds now in Bitterne, to replenish the food supplies, or risk going later in the better predicted conditions (but then the shelves might be empty)? ;)

Thread needs more pictures.

Knee high drifts on the edge of the reservoir near my office.

Near total white out yesterday afternoon.

I think it is going to be another winter that hangs on the edge - there are background signals for more extreme cold weather but it is probably going to be another winter where it comes close but just misses the conditions needed.

The default winter is mild and wet. 2010 won't be happening again for a while

Going to be wet and miserable.
Will not snow, Daily Mail and other papers will run the usual catastrophe headlines, and everything will be fine.

Probably the same as the last couple of years. Comparing this year to last year the temps are similar for the past two months but we have had a hell of a lot more rain in August and September than the same months last year. The rain has been more intense as well which reached a peak of 44.4mm in one hour back in August. Never seen rain like that before. It's probably going to be yet another mild, very wet winter.

So how was Winter for you guys? :D

No water in my flat, neighbours seem to be okay. I've turned the main valve off just in case a pipe has burst.

My upstairs sink and bath has frozen pipes, I've been here for over twenty years, and only ever had that once before.

Woke this morning to find the heating/hot water not working and a leaking pipe in the Kitchen ceiling!

The Condensate pipe to the boiler had frozen at the back of the house and the boiler had packed up, un-froze it with some hot water and have insulated it now.

Now just need to find where the damn leak is coming from!!!
