Tomb Raider (2018)

I know it's been mentioned but I think the casting for this is ridiculous. She looks nothing like Lara in both body and face. Given the character is famous for her impressive rack, you would have thought they'd at least try and rectify that via CGI or some casting. That sounds incredibly bad but I think if you're doing a game to movie port, you have to at least get one of the main things right, which is having an actress immediately recognisable as Lara

Have you played the two most recent TR games though? I'm not saying there's an uncanny resemblance but the Lara you're describing isn't the Lara this film is based on.

I have, they are two of my favourite games ever. Always been a huge fan of the series, and even though you're right, they aren't as in your face as they were in the early games, she still has decent sized boobs :p

Booked to watch it Saturday morning weather permitting, they seem to have rushed a new trailer out last month that had a completely different look and feel to the first one they released.

They changed that in the two recent reboot games. She does look passably like the last two games version of Lara, rather than the top heavy version that went against the creator's intent.

It's like the least concerning thing about the movie.

More CGI? What's there already is bloody awful.

Just saw this, it's not bad !!!

I think the reviews may be a bit harsh, Vikander is certainly the best thing in it. The Tombs Puzzle's are good, it pulls many set pieces from the game and twists the plot of the game a little to make sense. I enjoyed it quite a bit and never bored in any of it.

With all the reviews being "bad" that i've seen i probably wont see it in the cinema but i still like the look of it for mindless fun, just wait till it comes out on disc and grab it. Cinema's have priced themselves out for the "worth a chance" movies for me now, a trip costing around £50 when you take the wife. Thats a UHD Bluray, a Takeaway and a bottle of wine.

But what about norks?! That's clearly the most important aspect of the film ;)

I can only assume, as someone else said, that you live a fair distance away and also purchase food onsite.
For us, me and the wife both own Unlimited cards - so we each pay £18/month but even if you only see 2 films a month, that is £9 each. (we tend to go weekly, will often have double days where we see one film after the other and we go and see films we would otherwise not bother were we "paying per film").
We live about 10 miles from the cinema, so not really much travel costs and as for food - we can usually go a couple of hours without any, but if we must - there is a Tesco almost in walking distance where a bag of popcorn costs you £1 and a bottle of Coke near enough the same.

I’m in love with her no matter what :p

I’m in love with her,

I live so close that I don’t leave the house 10mins after the movie starts.

So the film is scheduled to start at 9pm, I’ll get off my bum from the sofa at 9, go get change, nip to the loo, 10mins to get ready then leave.

I can drive there, park up, get ticket from machine and sat down just as the last trailer finishes.

I got odeon limitless too so pretty easy for me from start to finish. I have decided to watch a film as late as it’s start time and still made it.

If the weather is good I’ll walk, and leave the house when the movie is due to starts, I know it’s a 23min delay every time and it’s a 16min walk.

Weekend tickets are £13 to £15 a head depending on the screen, £24 if you get the good ones with Gallery seat and "free" drinks and snacks.
I cant go mid week, with my commute to work its just not practical. That doesnt include the 15 miles drive to the place which i didnt even take into account.

Cinema going has become a bit of a treat on the main so I only got to things i really want to see (or the wife forces me... looking at you... 50 shades freed).
Will probably hit Ready Player One (i want to see what they did with the book) and Pacific Rim (wife loves big robot movies) this month then wont go again for ages.... Unless she makes me go see Avengers

Jeez if you were that bothered about seeing Alicia Vikander's norks just watch Tulip Fever :p

Can't say I'm terribly excited about this movie, trailer doesn't grab me at all.

I aggree, it's not bad, although by the same token it's not great.

Perhaps I was hoping for a little too much, as I've always been a bit of a Tomb Raider fan.
Alicia Vikander, like you say is certianly the best part of the film, & I think she will be a good Lara Croft.
