Eye floaters

Does anyone else get these? In the last year or so i have started to notice them popping up a few times a day at work if my pc has a white background. These days they are more like the stringy/ train track kind that makes its away across your vision and then dissapears. Outside on a bright day they make appearances too.

At my last eye test in December i said they had become a bit more common overr the past year so she dilated me and did a thorough inspection of my retina and it was fine.

Not looking for advice just curious if others get the same?

Can be normal, can also indicate various eye issues from minor to very serious esp if you notice a more rapid onset.

Suggest you go to docs/opticians.

My earliest memories of these were when I was about 4 in the back of the car looking at the sky and asking my sister if she could see them. Turns out she knew what I was talking about as she had them too. They haven't gotten any worse with age so I don't think it is much to worry about. My understanding is that they are basically dead cells from you retina that are floating about in the Vitreous body, the jelly part making up the centre of the eyeball. Blinking therefore does not move them.

I started seeing floaters in my eyes in my early 20's after visiting a ophthalmologist he then diagnosed keratoconus . I'd get your eyes checked just to be safe as I'm asked every 6months at my eye test have floaters increased (in my none keratoconus eye)

Usually get bright 'spots' in low light, at the corner of my eyes. Its almost like someone flashing a torch from a distance.

I should probably get it checked out.

Most people have them. However, If they suddenly increase in number best advice is to get to the opticians (or the hospital) pronto.

Old git here. I have plenty. Hazard of the job using screens all the time.

Contrary to popular belief, working up close with screens can never, ever, damage your vision. The most you'll get is eye strain which doesn't do anything permanent. Your floaters are normal and caused by pure chance.

had them for 22 years damn things just appeared one afternoon, but only really notice them if I'm looking a white background pc screen of a4 paper for example the optician reassured me said they are very common.

i got loads of them when i was a teenager - very visible especially in summer.

I was told its fine unless they increase but they have been pretty steady for the last 30 years.
Still annoying sometimes as there is one that almost overlaps my focus.

I get them occasionally, usually not noticeable but sometimes actually big enough to confuse me and make me think something has actually drifted in front of my eyes.

No floaters until I was 17. Then I accidentally bumped my head against a wall and within minutes they started appearing. This happened in 1995 and I still see them now. So annoying because if I'm reading, the floaters cover up some of the words, so I constantly have to shift the page around to carry on reading.
