Odd annoyance on start up.

On occasion when I boot up my secondary PC nothing will show on my monitor a Dell 27". Holding the power button down and switching off then restarting seems to fix the issue and I will not have an issue. This is sporadic problem with the PC/monitor and I am at a loss what it could be.
Specs are:
MSI B751A-E33
CPU i5-3750
GTX 960
4 Gb RAM
I am sure the PSU is 450W

Any thoughts?

Do you switch the monitor on after the PC? It might not be seeing the monitor plugged into the GPU so it's firing up the igpu on the CPU.

Although if the igpu is completely disabled this can't be the issue

Nope the monitor is never switched off.

I get this sometimes on two very different PCs. Pretty much the only thing they have in common is Windows 10.

Does not the HDMI connection limit resolution as I am sure I could not get my monitors native resolution: 2560 x 1440 using HDMI?

Both DVI & HDMI go up to 1920x1200.

Whoops - that's HDMI v1 - 1.3 goes up to 2560×1600.

The native resolution of my UH 2011 is: 2560 x 1440

Yep, already corrected for hdmi - are you using dual link dvi?

single link caps at 1920x1200

Resolution is fine when my PC is booted, my problem is sometimes the monitor does not want to play and takes a restart for it to do so.

When it's booted - do you mean the POST and windows loading screen?

or at the desktop level?

Most of the time the monitor shows the normal booting screens, POST and Windows loading but on occasion all I will have is the figure 99 in the bottom right hand corner, I think that is what I see, unfortunately for the purposes of this thread it has booted perfectly this morning, as of course it would.
