Well timed wedding - just when the government needs its people as patriotic as possible and super 'British' - fantastically orchestrated propaganda.

France is a Republic and has a bigger tourism industry than us people still go to visit French Palaces etc.. no doubt if they happened to have a Royal Family there then someone could make a lazy argument about how some % of the tourists are clearly there for the Royals and therefore attribute some ridiculous figure to them too.

The main reason the French tourism industry is slightly bigger than the UK is location and taxes. Being a republic or not has little to do with it.
They have more than twice the visitors, but in terms of revenue are only around 7% higher because most of them are day trippers. A part of that is UK booze cruisers.

It's impossible to say how much impact the Royal family has on UK tourism, but there is certainly some effect.

It was just an example. These events in general create this kind of nationalism that is dangerous.
