Thank god someone with some sense has come up with an answer to knife crime

Lol, so they just buy them and grind them to make them pointy again, can't see how that would work. It is terrible the about of knife crimes you read about.
 
Lol they will just sharpen them again. What a waste of time that would be.
I can’t believe they haven’t increased the punishment for knife crimes it should carry a mandatory lengthy sentence regardless of the situation if you knife someone. There’s just not enough of a punishment for using one hence the reason it’s risen by 25%. Most teens have been brought up to think its normal to carry knives for protection on the streets now.
 
It's more or less like the gun debate in the US, the people using knives to kill other people are the problem not the knives themselves. It'll take about 200 years to pull all pointy knives out of circulation and supposing by some miracle that would even work, criminals are just going to walk around with screwdrivers and whatnot. The people in positions of authority are just so lacking in basic common sense it's unbelievable.
 
Clearly, living in such a wealthy and privileged position, he has never had to cook for himself. Knives are pointy for a reason.

Perhaps a better idea might be, Oh I don't know, for Judges to actually lock violent repeat offenders away and keep them there. Any justice system that allows people to accumulate dozens of offenses and still have their freedom is clearly badly broken and ruining perfectly good kitchen knives is not going to solve anything.

A widely publisised and strictly enforced three strikes rule would be a far better option.
 
Ok so err I imagine I’m a gang member, I want a knife, I go to a shop to buy a kitchen knife - they’ve all been rounded down. I go back home, go online and just buy a regular hunting knife like a buck knife, from one of the many legal online stores.

Or I just use something else entirely - I make my own weapon like they do in prison, or something else altogether like a hammer or acid...

How does this idea help anyone, or solve any problems, seems like the product of someone who’s unable to think properly.
 
Solution to the knife problem is guns.
If we didnt have such hefty gun control here we wouldnt have this knife problem - the Yanks are right..

More gunz, less knife crime.

Exactly, focusing on the tool rather than the cretins that carry these crimes is hilariously stupid.

Unfortunatley we cant control who breeds in society, so this problem wont ever go away.
 
They need to address cultural and societal problems before the "just ban stuff" mentality comes into play. A good start would be to address the obsession of extreme violence and gang culture by young black teenage boys. Also good - would be a method of having programs or services that can provide them with interesting and fun things to do that give them a sense of self worth, before they get sucked into hell.

I'm talking about things like summer camps, work experience programs, sports programs, educational stuff, I'm sure other people could come up with other ideas. The general idea would be to distract these kids from being sucked into violence, during that very vulnerable period of their lives (age 13-18) when they seem to go off the rails, we need to provide alternatives that are better than things like this;
