Hi all,

Currently have an old nilfisk pressure washer which has been ok but just that, never been really happy with it. The hose is so stiff and kinks like an absolute mutha.

Also no variable speeds etc. anyway, I'm after a decent pressure washer but don't want to spend several hundred pounds - so I'm looking at the K4 Pressure washer - a good buy? Or are there others out there at a similar price and better quality?

The one I'm looking at I can get manufacturer refurbished for around £100.

I've heard the K2 is **** because it's all plastic whereas the K4 is a better choice because it has more metal parts for connectors etc meaning it'll last longer.

I've been looking at the K4 in my local Homebase for £140 but it doesn't seem to come with the snow foam lance so that's another £20-30 on top.

No problems here with the K2 mini version its light and more than powerful enough to clean the car and strip grime and other weather related muck off walls with the added Turbo Lance.

That’s a good thing. If you want a snow foam lance, get a decent one. The karcher one is all but useless.

I thought the cleanyourcar one was excellent for the money, until I got an autobrite one, the autobrite one is unsurpassable in creating a decent clinging foam cover.

My K2 went pop after 3 months use. To their credit Karcher were very helpful and replaced it, but I'm still not buying another one when the time comes. There does seem to be a good reason why Karcher have so many 'reconditioned' units for sale.

I'm surprised you don't like the Nilfisk; that's the first bad thing I've heard said about them.

You can get different pipes on ebay ect for them, I got a 10m rubber hose and it's brilliant, don't need to move the pressure washer around the car with me any more

My friends K2 lasted long enough to do his driveway then died.

I like my nilfisk
I dislike the modern Karcher units, certainly the lower end ones, they look and feel cheap, and seem to have a relatively high failure rate.

My Karcher K620m on the other hand is built like a tank, coming up to 20 years old, it’s had a set of o-rings and a new on off switch in that time (about £8 of parts total, and 15 mins to fit). I’m dreading it ever dying completely, as getting a replacement, high flow and high pressure, lay-down style unit these days seems to be a case of going professional and/or industrial!

I largely feel you get what you pay for with pressure washes. We've had a commercial Karcher that's been in the family for over 25 years and it's still going strong despite heavy usage (farm). I'm sure it cost around 4k at the time.

Not wanting to spend this, I got a Nilfisk E145 3 years ago on sale for £200 from Clean Store. It's been faultless for keeping 2-3 cars clean and bits and pieces around the house. The included hoses are usually poor, but you can get decent rubber replacements for reasonable money.

Have had my Nilfisk E130 for 6 years. Replaced the hose as it does seem a weak point as the sheathing snapped. Also had to replace the gun as it sheared a plastic piece but apart from that it has been faultless.

My Nilfisk was ok, the hose did like to kink though and the lance felt cheap and bendy, especially with the patio cleaner on. It also started to leak.

The only way to get a really good pressure washer is to go up to the professional ranges with metal lances. I ended up buying a Kranzle, it really is way better than anything else I have seen, expensive but it should last forever. The lance is in a different league and the 15m hose barely twists itself up at all.

bit of a necro, looking at the K4 full control but i'm about to invest in a Ryobi drill so wondering whether to jump in with their pressure washer too. Anyone any experience?

Ryobi don't do a one+ pressure washer do they? so don't see what relevance the drill has? It wouldn't be sharing the battery, which is the only reason to stay within a brand really.

Are any Nilfisk washers still in Amazon's Black Friday deals? That's where I'd be looking
