Have you got a set date?

Was going to grab a 1070 when I built my new system a month or so back, but decided to wait and drop my old 660 to see what the new Nvidia cards bring. I run at 1080p and mainly play EVE Online and The Division, so it works fine for me at the moment. Have £400 sat waiting, but will probably add another £100 or so if the new cards seem worth it. If not, I'll see what the price drops are on the current cards.

Tell you something else that's really annoying right now ~ the way that retailers have totally lost the plot with prices. Prices are falling but retailers are all over the place with prices. If you shop around for a 1080 say you can find retailers prices differeing by huge amoiunts. I'm not going to mention any names here, but really they need to open their eyes and check prices with their competition. No one in their right mind is going to buy a card from them when they are charging £200+ more than a rival for the same card. This isn't helping buyers it's just increasing levels of frustration. I think buyers are buying right now, but not if the retailer is out of the park on prices.

Well, I get 600 EUR to spend on gaming hardware next June (5 years at work), so that's my date. Hopefully have a new range of nVidia and AMD to choose from by then.

I just gave up, lol. I am tired of waiting so I spent the money on something else. I'm not going to wait on NVIDIA any more. Miners and new cards, bah, sick of it. Now is not the time to buy.

One of the problems is companies often buy in products at a certain price point and they don't have that flexibility to just adjust prices like that except if they absolutely have to in order to shift stock. If they buy in 100 units at a higher price and then 50 at a lower with tight margins they will still "have" to try and shift 100 units before they can drop the price. With the fluctuations in the market lately it is catching out a lot of places when it comes to GPU prices.

Was itching to pull trigger on a 1080 then after some thought got a PS4 as lots of mates are now gaming on it and I have resisted for some years. Hopefully by the time new cards are released I will evaluate the situation again, kind of agree with the principle that pascal is now aged enough your better off stalling till the next wave so you dont be kicking yourself.

Yes, I was literally on the edge of buying a 1080 but prices are horribly inconsistent on the web, still, considering the age of the technology, over-priced, and of course there is now a very real threat that if you buy it will be superseded immediately by NVIDIA's new generation.

Well I've caved in and bought a 1080Ti.

Expect the new cards to be available in just over 90 days time, right after my EVGA step up expires.

I've decided I'm not upgrading until I've cleared my Steam and GoG backlog. That should take me nicely up until 2019/2020 when Navi gets released :p

I don't think the 11 series is going to be priced at a level where mortals can partake. It's going to be for CEOs and oligarchs only ;)
