AMD Radeon Vega 12 and Vega 20 Wave Hello From Ashes Of The Singularity Database

It is getting a little too obvious who is planting small Vega leaks into the Ashes Of The Singularity database, I mean that repetitive pattern each and every year. And what company is all over who is all over AOTS, yeah it's a close to dedicated AMD title. Anyhow, the Radeon Vega 12 and Vega 20 just popped up in there.

At Computex AMD already announced Vega20, a die shrink of Vega, at 7nm. They mentioned they have working engineering samples. What's interesting though is that the card will be first released as HPC unit, AMD at Computex shared the word that is was announcing 7nm Radeon Vega the first model will be a deep-learning SKU, the Radeon Instinct with 32 GB HBM2. 7nm is good for power consumption mentioned AMD in the demo, the GPU is already in sampling stage. Specs have not been mentioned we expect this die-shrink would get the same 64 CUs / 4096 shader processors as in Vega 10 (the current one), who knows for sure really. AMD mentions it will bring 7nm Vega towards gaming as well, no timeframe is mentioned though.

Two weeks later .. these show up in the Ashes Of The Singularity Database under new device ID 66A0:00:

And you would think that you would at least put in a comment that actually asked a viable question or stimulate a reasoned well thought out debate. No, instead you see a news Item about AMD and come in and crap all over it for no good reason other than to bad mouth or pour your scorn. The OP was just reporting a news item to the graphics card section, nothing more. If you cant be constructive then at least have good facts and a reasoned debate to counter the news item.

Don’t hold your breath! ATI/AMD have never been ones to quickly adopt new architectures, they have been on GCN since December 2011, before that it was Terrascale which was used between 2007 to 2011 and before that Xenos which was used in the X1800/Xbox 360 era.

It seems AMD PC graphics efforts these days are driven by consoles, there not going to move away from GCN until next year at the earliest when they give us Navi (but there is no guarantee that Navi won't just be another reiteration of GCN). In all honesty AMD PC GPU’s have been reduced to technology demo’s/marketing for AMD so they can sell custom chips to the likes of Sony, Microsoft, Intel et el.

I don't think it was that guy. I think his name was Jensen. I heard he was anti competitive, anti consumer and anti technology. Ah yes, Adam Jensen I think it was. @shankly1985 : is it worth revisiting the wording of your original post to clear up confusion?

From my understanding, the 7nm Vega announced is for Radeon Instinct (as you said), but that's not RX which is the gaming card name. Also, Lisa Su said 7nm was coming to gamers, not 7nm Vega coming to gamers. That's Navi next year.

Thought it was worth the clarification given the article you've copied and pasted has these little inaccuracies in it.

Vega20 showing up in the database isn't a surprise considering we know it's Instinct, but what's Vega12?

Also, despite what Lisa said, I'd be surprised if we didn't get a 7nm refresh of RX Vega GPUs to keep us ticking over until Navi anyway; I doubt Navi is going to be a Q1 2019 release

A cost effective RX560 replacement hopefully - as the 1050/1050ti have consistently outperformed the RX550/RX560 on a price/performance ratio since they came out (and low-end "esports" cards still have a fairly large market share)

But I thought Vega10 was the existing RX cards and APUs? So a lower-end part has a higher number, despite Instinct being Vega20?
