Hi all long time no speaky :).

Any way thought I would post on here my experiance with my PC hard locking in windows and worst of all the BIOS.

Specs

Asus maximus formula XI
I7 7700K
16GB ram
and the cause I think and hope
GeForce GTX 1080 DirectCU III Strix Advanced Gaming Aura RGB 8192MB

Now yesterday one was just playing a game and my PC hard locked still had fans and display but it was locked could not use mouse nor keyboard so hard to hard reset.

So though ha just windows being a sod so restarted it and instantly locked up blue screens etc etc.

So thought OK shall go into BIOS and see whats up.
I was in the BIOS for about 5 seconds and bam same thing fans going display was fine just locked could not use mouse nor keyboard.

So as you know its now a case of finding out the issue so I removed GPU and started PC up again all seemed fine BIOS,Windows etc.

So put GPU back in and still seems fine.

I am happy but yet at the same time worried as I dont know for sure what the issue was or could have been or still is?.

My question to you lot is does a loose GPU in a PCI-E slot cause these kinds of issues if so I would have expected the displays to have suffered to but they never.
Or could it have been a loose power suplly cable? even though the little white LEDs showed all was fine that is near the power connectors on the GPU.

I am going to keep an eye on it as I am still not convinced lucky for me my whole PC is still under warrenty but that would suck :( I built the pc my self parts supplied from OCUK its been fine for nearly a whole year July the 1st infact.

P.S forgot to say temps are perfect under load and idle voltages not sure .

Thanks in advance.

Yeah took gpu out used on board display now when in bios it's ok for about 10 seconds and then goes dark screen but fans etc still spinning.

Does same if I get into windows so maybe it was not the 1080 as I thought yesterday and now it's some thing else.
Got to say I'm realy realy gutted :(

OK plan of attack when I get a chance shall take pc in garage and gut it I will build it on the desk.

I have a spare gpu and psu.

But I don't have ddr4 ram nor another motherboard nor a cpu so if it's one of them I'm stuffed I won't be able to diagnose it.

Does ocuk offer a free service let's say if I send back the motherboard, cpu and ram as there the parts I can't test would they and then offer an rma on the faulty parts.

I got this all on July 1st last year and that's creeping up fast though I think some of the parts have over 1 year warrenty.

Any advice would be appriciated thank you.

100000% no this thing is a monster I don't need to its fast well was fast as hell so never had or even wanted to :)

I shall take pics when I'm stripping pc and testing it out not for any reason other then when I built it about 11 months ago I never had a chance to take pics.

Any way I think I'm going to test psu first and the cables make sure there all ok I have a multimeter.

OK little update

Striped pc reseated cpu ram etc etc.

I just think the motherboard is dodgy I try ed different psu one stick of ram etc and in bios screen goes black (using on board graphic) and error code 02 pops up on little led.

During restarts I will get random errors on little led screen as well it's just all over the place.

Any one else heard of issues with the

Asus maximus formula XI

Thanks all pics are.coming but on phone right now

Update again as it was bugging me

Went back out and if I install any pcie gpu instead of getting just a black screen like I do using just on board graphics I get hard lock ups and cant do any thing fans and display is fine but mouse curse is froze.

Any one else think it's more likely motherboard I'm thinking it is but as said I can't test ram nor cpu as I don't have any.

I can't pc either locks up with gpu installed or black screens with on board gpu even in bios.

I did run a test about 6 months ago all was fine as I was getting some issues then but put that down to MS install lol but maybe it was the start of this? Who's to know :(.

Just a small update

Phoned OCUK yesterday and as we all know OCUK don't mess about when it comes to helping.
Was emailed an rma number and DPA slip to slap on the box for it to be sent back to OCUK for replacement.

As we all know and ya don't need me to tell ya OCUK kick major butt :) no messing customers about etc.

Thanks again OCUK.

P.S
They even suggested for me to send back the motherboard with the ram and cpu as I could not test it but I said let's start with motherboard as I'm pretty sure it's that.
If it does turn out to be one of the other two OCUK are the best and I'm sure will do every thing they can to help.

Shall keep ya informed on outcome of new board when it comes.

Also have not forgot about the pics.

Nice 1 mate, hope you get a resolution.

Thanks

Sorry still no pics but tbh will be taking more when I get new motherboard and start rebuilding it any way so may as well post them up at the same time.

Going to drop parcel off tomorrow at my closest dpd drop off point (makes sending stuff back a doddle saves waiting in for them to collect).

Thanks again all and OCUK.

P.S

I think my psu is the RM1000 will double check tomorrow.
I am looking at them nice looking braided cable sets as I found the ones that came with the psu are horrible to work with (stiff and a realy stiff thing...lol) what set would one need as there's lime type 3 4 etc and even getting the right set some people have said that not all the cables even fitted the psu any way so I'm lost.

I want all read cables if some one would be so kind to let me know what type I need that would be cool and will double check psu tomorrow pretty sure it is the RM1000 though.

OK motherboard is out for delivery to OCUK today so that was fast only posted it yesterday lol.

Any one have an idea how long OCUK take to look at RMAs obviusly depends on how busy they are but as a guide?.

Thanks
