Things like GPP have a habit of getting leaked regardless. As a leading expert in my field globally I am often asked to provide advice on certain issues to hedge funds, angel investors etc. so they can do their due diligence when considering an investment (it pays nicely) and I knew about GPP a good 10-14 days before it broke in the press as it came up as a request from one of the advisory services which use me (investors were obviously looking into the impact the policy might have on their investment). It isn't just reviewers and tech pundits who get access to this stuff and they are rarely the first to know...

Yeah after a longer thought or 2 i've come to the same conclusion. The issue won't be with the press, cause nvidia tells them nothing anway when it comes to things like GPP, but I think it will be what the manufacturers can say. So if the Arez branding comes back and asus won't comment on it then we know whats up

Which is nothing to do with the posters statement I quoted. He stated we have seen nothing for two years and Nvidia are ploughing everything in to deep learning etc.
They may well be but its still yet to appear as a geforce product, volta with hbm is only available as a titan, odds are the geforce version (if there is one) will use gddr.
So you agree they have released a new architecture in the last two years?

You can certainly argue the point that they have since Titan V uses the same geforce branded driver package as the 10 series pascal which is focused on gaming.
Titan v isn't even labelled as a geforce card anymore, previous titan cards were. And "geforce" is their gaming brand. I very much doubt many have bought a titan v for gaming as the price compared to previous titans is ludicrous, presumably this was done on purpose to try and price it out of most gamers reach.
As for drivers, i would guess its easier to have commonality in driver compatibility rather than having to farm out other driver variations for a card that presumably at some point is going to have a geforce iteration.

Releasing a BS overpriced-even-more-than-usual x 1 billion card is the same as basically nothing. So my "putting it to you" stands. Not to mention Volta is for deep learning.

Is the Titan Volta a new architecture that has been released in the last two years since the pascal line of GPU’s

I don't count cards that are unaffordable as actually having been released yet. Pascal barely qualifies.

In fairness if I discount all cards that don't fit my argument AMD haven't released a new architecture in 10 years.
Nvidia is selling two GT1030s at the moment. One with GDDR5 ram the other with DDR4.
Also the DDR4 is core speed is slower than the GDDR5.
There is no distinction apparently which model you buy until you look closely at the box.
The performance difference between the two though is pretty huge and many could get caught...

The difference in name is almost small print, for example...
GEFORCE GT 1030 2GD4 LP OC
GEFORCE GT 1030 2GHD4 LP OC
One of those is GDDR5, the other DDR4, the price difference, $10, the performance difference is 2X, that being the DDR4 version is only half as fast.
They have also done the same with some mobile MX GPU's.

But that was always the case, the old NDA covered such things, which is why AIBs were not talking about GPP. And that is completely normal for an NDA. This comes back to the whole point that the NDA is compelled industry standard and nothing has changed significantly.
Nvidia, like any other company on the planet, has the legal right to ensure confidentiality to protect business. What Nvidia and every other company don't have the right to do is purposely lie to customers. No NDA would allow Nvidia to legally purposely market the 970 the way they did, or force journalists to keep quiet about it once the truth emerged. Nvidia agreed to a preliminary settlement in the 970 lawsuit because of that.
The Titan V is marketed towards both gaming and HPC, like the original Titan Black. It was the later Titans that were marketed towards gaming only.
NVidia switches their market segment for Titans on the whim based on what price they can charge.
The fact is, you can buy a Titan Volta and install drivers aimed specifically for gaming, drivers that ave at least some gaming optimizations. Until recently, none of the Titan GPUs had drivers suitable for professional software for example, you would have to buy a quadro. And even the Titan V (and Titan x/P) are not martketed towards professional software as the drivers are not certified.
The Titan V has 2 markets:
1) gamers that have an unlimited budget - i.e. Kappa
2) Amateur or small business doing machine learning or HPC. But it isn't for industrial use in this sector, their warranty explicitly doesn't allow it in datacenters. It is basically a 10K Tesla Volta you can by at 1/3rd price if you are not one of the Google's of the world buying up thousands of Tesla parts.
