Thai cave rescue - One of the divers has died

Musk is an amazing person and a visionary, just a shame he has the social skills of a brick, and a Twitter account. Him and Trump would make a great couple.

A visionary sure, but from his little tantrums on twitter and what his ex wife has said about him it appears as a human he's a piece of ****

There's plenty of nice people in the world achieving not very much, there aren't many people sending rockets into space and building electric cars. I'd rather take a few more of the latter.

Obviously he shouldn't have called him a pedo, although he's a ********.

I don't quite understand why there has been such a backlash from certain quarters against Musk's helping out, I get that some areas of the media and people don't like rich businessmen but I've seen this brewing for a while for no real reason and now Musk has given it fuel they'll push for maximum damage.

I like the fact he is vocal and doesn't let a media team manage him, it's much better than the usual vapid, vanilla, tripe (my new Eau de Cologne) that come out of large business media departments.

You're saying it's impossible to build questionably eco friendly vehicles and space ships without being a dick ?

I'm not even sure how Tesla is still surviving as they always seem to be reported as making a loss - https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2018/may/02/tesla-loss-model-3-elon-musk so I wonder if there's something dodgy going on with the company and Musk

Maybe his personality type is a large part of the reason why he's achieved so much. Bill Gates by all accounts was a complete savage in the work environment, I personally couldn't care less as he's wiped out a disease and donated billions to charity. Elon Musk is doing more than most to move the species forward technologically. Not everyone needs to be a nice guy.

Musk is a dick, it's not the first time he has decided to insult critics like that.

Musk turned up at the cave and was told to leave apparently. I'm guessing he kicked off then when he didn't get his own way which is why the diver seemed initially hostile online.

I'm not sure one, very bad taste, post on twitter and some comments from an estranged ex (if true, whatever they may be, really can't be bothered to look that up) can be used to label someone a human piece of ****.

I do know that a company that builds rockets diverted their resources, worked hard and HAS built a submarine that if not viable in this situation could be at some other point in time. Not to say it couldn't have been made to work in it's next iteration. They seem intent on trying it out.
The diver does not come across well, smirking away while telling someone trying to help in a material way to 'shove it where it hurts'. Despite others involved asking them to continue as a fallback. PR exercise? Not sure how building a sub helps sell satellite launches.

Long term thinking, it took 15 years before Ocado posted it's first profit - https://www.theguardian.com/business/2015/feb/03/ocado-first-annual-profit-waitrose-morrisons

Though Tesla must have some big backers with deep pockets to rack up the losses he is doing

possibly, there doers seem to be a trend for sociopaths types to do quite well - Steve Jobs was also supposed to have been a complete and utter arse hole to work for at times

Let's be honest, the only thing Musk needs to do to complete his look is date Taylor Swift for a while.

he's already dated that "type", albeit in the form of a Hollywood actress - seems he's come a long way since founding PayPal:

Amber Heard is another basket case tbh. I suspect there are at least 50 cats in her head.

Still would though.

That isn't the account of other people involved including the lead divers who kept Musk in the loop - also Vern looks away from the camera/presenter at that point in a way that suggests he isn't being entirely honest though that is my reading of it - Musk has also posted pictures, etc. online that suggests he wasn't just there for a short time and was told to leave but had time to do some research - though it seems that didn't really penetrate very deep into the cave and the challenges beyond the most evident.

I wouldn't be quick to brand him a sociopath, he's probably just a competitive no nonsense type who says what he thinks.
