Hi all, myself and a couple of friends from Warwickshire are planning a driving trip to Wales on Saturday the 28th of July (postponed from the 22nd due to health issues) . If any of you would like to join us with your cars please let me know. We plan to leave early in the morning and return late afternoon. You can either start the drive with us or meet us along the way.

Nice. I'd be tempted if I were free that day.

Have fun.. me and a few friends done a run around the valleys for a weekend. A few weeks back.... Had some good fun!

Done this a couple of times past few weekends, first time drove to Harlech, chilled on beach for couple of hours and then drove home.

Then weekend before last myself and two Mustangs drove to Harlech, chilled, swam on beach, then drove the coastal road all way down to St. Davids. Stopped in hotel overnight. Following day went to Barafundle Bay, picture:

After spending a few hours swimming at Barafundle Bay, one split off down the M4 to BasingStoke and myself and Mac drove home through Brecons national park, via Shropshire hills and home. Was an incredible weekend.
Tomorrow night I am taking the M3 to New Brighton with a group of other M car owners for a quick blast.

Where are you meeting on 22nd and what time, if I am not away and available plus good weather I might join you guys, what is your planned route?

Sounds like you had a great time!

Plan to leave around 8am if all goes well. Meet somewhere around Coventry or Birmingham area as a friend is coming from Nottingham side.

Flexible on the route, still planning, any suggestions or Google map routes are welcome.

Ahh, busy this weekend but if you do another one before the bad weather hits, I'm in.

I live just off M6 J2 so not far out at all :)

May repeat it on the 28th of July (Sat) and/or the 5th of August (Sun) if I enjoy it and more people are interested. Let's see.

You should probably tie down if you're going to be going North or South Wales as you can do both in a day but you need a much longer day and you won't experience many of the better roads / views.

Being in Bristol I've done Brecon a couple of times in a day and even just going there and driving about a little bit uses up most of a day. I've also done Brecon and a Bala in Snowdonia in a single day but I was up at something like 5am and home at 7pm and went through a couple of tanks of super.

Brecon/A4069:

Snowdonia/Afon Tryweryn:

Brecon is a lovely drive, I don't do it as much as I like, I like to start off from Pontypool and make my way up to Abergavenny as the roads between are quite enjoyable (Avoid tuesday though, Market day and the old folks like to clog the roads up staying at 40 in a NSL) Then taking the A40 up through Crickhowell and Bwlch, Stopping off at Llangorse Lake as it's a nice destination and it's a special place for my family, then continue upwards to the beacons, Might have to take the Z4 up for a top down blast soon before the lovely weather disappears.

Believe it or not an IT firm up in Brecon hosted a LAN in the theatre next to a small river that joins the River USK (Theatr Brycheiniog according to Google), quite surprised how many people with really nice kit and a driving sim rig turned up haha :D

Hi all, myself and a couple of friends from Warwickshire are planning a driving trip to Wales this coming Sunday (22nd). If any of you would like to join us with your cars please let me know. Avoid Mid Wales Routes this weekend unless you like sitting in traffic, Royal Welsh show start's on monday but heavy traffic will start earlier due to exhibitors and people camping arriving on Saturday/Sunday.

you wanna do the Betws-y-Coed to Capel Curig to Llanberis Pass run.

also, down to Beddgelert and also past Ogwen Lake.

It's always rammed with tourists dawdling on the weekends though.

Just be aware of the new 50MPH average speed camera on the A5104 if anyone goes that way. Lot of long straight sections between cameras so easy to forget or assume it has ended.

Went around Pembrokeshire too. Found this great food trailer too.... Burgers were bloody delicious!

Since we're sharing pics lol -
