Guys there a very high chance that i have lost my job so I was hoping for some advice on cutting some my out going bills

£30 per month mobile phone
Should I change this to say a £10 per month or a pay as you go

SKY roughly £60 per month
If I phoned up and cancelled this tomorrow would there be any more to pay

Motorbike insurance paid by £40 per month over 10 months
This was renewed only about 1 month ago so am guessing I would be charged a fee when I cancel it..

Car Insurance around £275
Guess there nothing I can do here as I will still need a car

40mb Internet connection + line rent about £40 per month
Guessing there not much I can do here as well as I wouldn't be able to use my mobile phone internet instead if I reduce the mobile phone plan

Also thinking of buying a cheap bicycle to save on car fuel & maintenance costs..
Would paying lets say around £125 for a bicycle be wasting money ?

House Rent

Nothing I can do there

Any advice you guys can give me would be great as am guessing there been a few members on here that been out of work at some point and know it can be hard not knowing when you're next pay check is going to come..

Sorry to hear that, I read your other thread about the incident that happened.

I don't really know your personal circumstances so it's difficult to comment, although I suspect changing the mobile phone contract might be difficult - usually you have to buy your way out if there's much of the contract remaining (unless you're nearing the end of it, or it can be cancelled free of charge?)

Sky would be the first to go,

If you're really hard up, I'd SORN the bike or the car (or even sell one) and live with whichever was cheapest, aside from that - the other stuff is pretty barebones...

I guess it ultimately depends on your skillset, the industry you work in and how quickly you think you can get a job, that would determine how much you have to cut back..

All sky, netflix, amazon prime will have to go ASAP.

Move all credit cards into interest free cards if you can and delay any interest payments for 12 months.

Start walking everywhere whenever you can, a penny saved in petrol is a penny earned.

Surely sky is a contract (if you’ve negotiated a better deal), therefore you will owe the remainder.

If that mobile phone bill is just for calls and data, that’s way too much. Should easily be able to drop it to a tenner a month.

Hit them.up for constructive dismissal if it's anything to do with your other thread.

Depends, when I signed up to mine 12 months contract, after 12 months its just rolling, with 30 days notice period.

I've not had a mobile sim that can do calls/texts for almost a year, but I've never been a big phone user, had a "3" brand 3-2-1 PAYG sim (call, text, bb pence per unit) sitting on my desk for months.

I'm not a big TV watcher, I watch stuff from Amazon Video in the evenings, freeview for sports events (although this is diminishing these days but I can live with it, I'd rather do sport of my own through cycling in the South Downs, weather permitting). Better half uses Amazon Prime a fair bit, the quick delivery from subscribing is worth it for her, the Video and music is an added bonus.

Recently swapped to Plusnet unlimited fibre BB and landline for £25pcm IIRC, with £40 cashback to come from Quidco soon. Some companies like Plusnet and BT will let you pay landline rental 12 months up front for a discount of 1 month IIRC.

~£350 would get you a decent basic new bike, either a road bike from Decathlon, or a hybrid from Halfords (who offer 10% British Cycling membership discount on all cycling goods if you "click and collect," costs ~£22 for the year).

Phone shouldn't be more than a tenner if it's sim only.

Sky cancelled. Good.

Dont need both a bike and a car. Ditch the bike.

Then focus on finding a new job.

Joined sky about 30 years ago (No deals I just pay the normal sky monthly price)

My mobile phone £30 per month is the monthly price of the contract I am on
Smart 50GB here https://web.sure.com/guernsey/mobile/price-plans
Looks like I can change it to a cheaper contract without any charge (EDIT looks like I will need to pay for till the end of this month)

Do you need the car or could you make do with just the bike?

Depending on what it is could be a lot cheaper yo run and if needed sell the car

I'm not an expert by any means, however I have had a few compliments on my CV; if you'd like me to send you over a template for you, and give you a hand with job hunting etc, drop me a trust

My motorbike not in very good condition and needs a lot of money spent on it and not really worth anything

Guessing my car (angust 2016 focus ST3) is going be worth around 15k to !6k but stills has about 4.5k finance left to pay on it

Is this over the phone thread how are you losing your job from q contractor breaking your stiff O.o
