Cheap GPU recommendations

Hi,

So I've been running an EVGA GeForce GTX470 since about 2010. I bought this particular model because it was one confirmed to work with early Hackintosh video-editing builds without any conflicts. I've now totally abandoned the Hackintosh model after deciding that Windows 10 works well enough for me to stick with it. The upside of this is that I can start playing games after nearly a decade off.

The first thing I've been playing is Borderlands 2 and while the GPU does a fine job of running the game at the highest settings, it is noisy as hell and blowing out a lot of heat. Seeing as a Gelid Icy Vision cooler for it would set me back £35, and that I've been running it for 8 years, it's probably wiser just to invest in a new card.

As I'm massively out of the loop I'm looking for recommendations. Needs to be cheap, with CUDA driver compatibility for Premiere and After Effects, and, if possible, reasonably quiet.

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this and would recommend it. Is it still going to be noisy and really hot? It's got 3 times the RAM of my current GPU so I'm sure for my casual gaming purposes it'll be fine. It'll only need to satisfy a 1080p Dell monitor.

Any advice appreciated.

I'd aim for a GTX 1060 3GB over the GTX 1050ti. For £40 more you get a huge performance boost over the 50ti.

I'd be wanting to replace that CPU too, but I recommend GPUs in this order, pick whatever you're willing to spend:

1060 6GB
1060 3GB
1050Ti

Consider that we're not that far from black friday.

Cheers both. I'll take a look at those and come to a decision (with Black Friday in mind).

I'd love to but I think that'd require a whole new mobo. One thing at a time...

If you're happy going 2nd hand a 980 non Ti at £170 ish would be a good buy and better than all previous mentioned cards.

Good suggestion thanks, and something else to consider. Though I am cautious of buying 2nd hand and having it fail on me. The guarantee that comes with a new one might be preferable over the anxiety.
