Boris and the burka

Is it a matter that some husbands are stricter than others and force their wives to wear the 'letterbox?'

It's a huge security risk, much like motorbike helmets and balaclavas. Crazy you can go anywhere in them but couldn't do that with anything else. Airport security etc.

There is no legitimate reason for a women to wear a burqa other than to oppress her on account of her gender. It completely alienates the wearer from wider society. Total and utter oppression.

ban the burkha
let them wear a hijab.

one of my partners turkish friends always wears a hijab, yet she is always using profanity.
makes me wonder how religious a lot of these women really are.

A lot of it comes down to family and culture. Have you ever seen a woman wearing hijab but covered in make up? Women wearing hijab but skintight clothes? There's not always a clear understanding of why a hijab is worn, and it's usually down to family and community expectations.

Ummmm, pretty sure using swear words and being religious have nothing to do with one another.

Actually it does, it's meant to promote a moral, humble and pious nature. Plenty of narrations and verses about how to conduct oneself in front of others. Swearing is pretty much a bad characteristic.

That said, I've seen plenty of seemingly pious and hijab wearing women fight each other. Ultimately comes down to the individual, as plenty of muslim women I know who don't wear hijab and have better manners, morals etc than those who do...

The area where i work has a massive muslim population and only a very tiny percentage wear the full face mask.

It's Johnson just finding a new potential audience and continuing to grift his way through life. If a political opponent of his had taken these views a few years ago I am sure he'd have been staunchly opposed to it.

The hijab forms part of your identity, so some wear it to maintain their heritage or culture but the niqab is seen as what the extremists promote (by that I don't mean jihadis etc but people who take a stricter view of fiqh rulings).
