*** Official SONOS Thread ***

Trueplay makes a pretty significant difference. You only need to tune it once so just borrow an iPhone if your iPad doesn't work. Only takes a couple of minutes to do.
Thanks! My partner has an iPhone so will try that! Was just worried I would have to sign in on her device with Spotify, Amazon, alexa etc like I did in the initial set up :)

No just the Sonos app and you’re away :)

Thanks :) grabbed my partners iPhone last night and it was super easy to add the Sonos 1 the her phone as an existing system and from there carry out the true play shenanigans. We had just put the little one to bed and I wasn't prepared for how loud the space invader noises would be :) definitely sounds fuller imo if that makes sense.

Just placed order for the Beam to arrive next week when I'm back from holiday. Currently using only the TV speakers so should be nice upgrade and I have 3 Play Ones around the flat so will try it in 5.0 set up as well.

@bayo000 interested to hear your thoughts on the Beam. Tempted to get one for the bedroom tv.

A Beam with 2 play 1's easily fills my 7x7m living room. A Beam on its own should be ideal for a bedroom TV. However, if its just for music I'd consider a pair of play 1/ones - cheaper and better stereo separation.

Hey all, i have one question, i've been looking at sonos for a couple of years now, i'd be looking at a 5.1 setup (play bar / sub / 2 x play 1) Is it worth it? Or would a conventional set up be better? I currently have an Onkyo TXNR626 Receiver which i've had for a while. That would become obsolete no?

Thanks

@wez130 if you don't plan to use Sonos in rest of your house I wouldn't bother with just TV set up. You can get cheaper and better set ups. Or if you already have speakers to go with your receiver you could get sonos connect and spend the money that you'd spend on playbar and sub on sonos speakers in rest of your house. :)

Hi, thanks for the info. The Beam is to beef up the sound when watching movies and TV.

Anyone with a Beam use it in a corner? Any issues? I can't see any blurb with any specific positioning requirement.

Getting fed up with the poor sound from my TV so I've been looking at the beam due to its size, I can't have a full size bar due to space limitations.

The other option is a sound base, albeit not the £700 sonos one, but something like the Yamaha SRT-1500 but most bases (particularly the Virtual Surround ones) state not to locate in a corner.

Random one, but can anybody with a Sonos Beam and a LG 55B7 post some photos please so I can see the size of the two together??

Both products seem fairly popular on here, so hopefully there’s somebody!

Thanks!

We recently got a Play:3 to try out Sonos, and we've been happy so far. Whilst I never thought I'd really go down the multispeaker system route, the App is so simple even my wife can use it which is a massive plus.

However.... I'm wondering if we've made a mistake. It's currently in our dining room/kitchen which is a large room. My original thinking was to see how it is and then get another one to pair them, but should I have bought a Play:5 (as they are also pair-able)?

I'm also struggling for placement. Here's a rough layout:

The grey box is the Play:3 as it just happens to be on a convenient set of shelving, it will eventually be wall mounted. Would a stereo pair at either end of the room be a good setup? The chimney breast is a little annoying though, and the commander in chief definitely won't want anything mounted on the front of the chimney. The room is 13.5 metres long, so a reasonable space to fill.

The Play:3 is probably the weakest sonically, I’d personally go for a pair of Play:1s or a 2nd Gen Play:5 for a large room if you wanted to have proper room filling sound. The Play 1 paid would be better for stereo sound, whilst the Play:5 has more low end thump.

Would one play:5 be sufficient (if it has better Bass then I'd favour that)? I'm still able to send the Play:3 back if I've changed my mind (sure they wouldn't be unhappy if I'm upgrading to the more expensive one).

treated myself to a Sonos Playbase last month.. Can't believe how great it sounds.. I'm tempted to buy a couple of ONE's for the rear now.

The only annoyance is that I get a message on my Sammy when using the volume on the configured remote, warning me that the sound is external. I don't seem to be able to get of that.
